How cold was it Thursday morning? 10? 12? I almost didn't get the boat home in the snow.
Coldest I have ever fished, was a tournament a couple of Decembers ago, I believe it was 19 degrees at takeoff, warmed up to a stagering 24 degrees. Will never do that again, it was just to cold, and the boat was not happy about being out there when it was that cold.
Last weekend on Dale. 8 degrees with 25 mph wind.
Minus 50 wind chill, ice fishing on Moosehead lake in Maine January 1981. My truck ended up frozen to the ice.
Here in Kentucky would be last January at DH and that was 9.
i can remember a few years ago at rough river me and my buddy dave was fishing and it was snowing the whole boat was coverd in snow. but the cool thing was we where catching fish. and another time we fished a tournament on barren i have never ben so cold in my life it was just above freezing rain but it was pouring ran and about 30 to 40 mph winds it was the worst i have ever felt.
Been over 10yrs since i ice fished in Mi. But i never got cold ice fishing because you can sit in your truck with heat on or in a shanty with heat.As for from a boat last Jan or Feb on Nolin an open tournament.Never got above 32.I like fishing when its not 90 but not 32 say like 45 too 70 the Best.

I've fished in the teen's, because i love to fish. and get tired of staying inside the house all winter. i enjoy being outdoors, i've seen three eagles this winter, and got up close to two of them. they are a beautiful bird. but as far as the fishing goes, don't think i have ever caught a fish. when the temp. was below 20. but i read on here where, some of you guys catch them. so you catch them and post the pictures, and i'll read the stories, and look at the photos. and the stories and photos sure make the winter, a little shorter. it's just a few days until groundhogs day. then them old walleyes, start thinking about making little walleyes. and then, even a not so good of a fisherman like me. can boat one or two.![]()
I think I fished that white-out tournament in March on Rough River, we caught one bass 6.8 lb in 43 ddegree water. It wasn';t my coldest.i can remember a few years ago at rough river me and my buddy dave was fishing and it was snowing the whole boat was coverd in snow. but the cool thing was we where catching fish. and another time we fished a tournament on barren i have never ben so cold in my life it was just above freezing rain but it was pouring ran and about 30 to 40 mph winds it was the worst i have ever felt.
20 degrees is as cold as I remember at blast off on KY Lake at least twice and once at Barren
I was thinking about how potentially dangerous running 65 mph accross KY Lake and 40 miles down Barkley was, If either of us had gone overboard, I'm sure Hypothermia couldn't have been prevented when you take into account the water temp below 50, air temp of 20, time it would take to get help or to shore, remove wet clothing. Come to think about it, it was down-right risky. Keep your sense and keep your gear in top condition. Later
