Honestly Id like to measure the saliny of the Ohio before and after the winter salt season. I use about 2lbs of salt / 100 gallons of water in my FRESHWATER fish tanks. I would imagine that 100gallons is a MUCH smaller percentage of water in the Ohio then 2lbs of salt is compared to all the salt dumped on the roads. Salt is a very common mineral and is naturally occuring in our waters. I really dont think the road salt has that much of an impact. The other chemicals they put on the roads, well that is a different story.
