Looking for either bass or crappie, whatever is hitting. Anybody know where we could get into either? We live in BG, so lakes like Barren, Rough, Nolin, etc. Thanks a bunch guys!

I think that I am going to try Nolin on Sat. I think Dave said it right about Conoloway. I have had good luck there in the past.

    Good Luck

I heard Moutardier ramp was used leither ast weekend or week before, just a little ice. Can't be for sure now. I always fished verticle stickups at Taylorsville and did ok. I remember catching a couple dozen years ago on a cold January day 15-20 feet deep 1 mile from settlers trace on way to beech creek.
About Conoloway on Nolin......about how far back in there would you start? More near the mainlake, or further up the creek toward the head? Thanks for your help.

Re: Warmup coming, where to fish?

I'd try halfway, never really went to "backs" of any creek for anything until water temp hit 50s
now a flowing river channel is a different story...
Back when I was fishing hard, I had many a late winter trip where I skunked, but time on water was still enjoyable and let me keep my gear ready for the good days. The days you catch something are the most memorable. By presidents day in Feb, things will get better with longer daylight periods.

Re: Warmup coming, where to fish?

Good Fishin to you guys this weekend. For me, need to take care of the HOME FRONT & SAVE UP SOME STAMPS. Taking the wife for a little mini vacation. (Never heard of retired people taking vacation, but the wife says "it's the in thing")..beats me, but as long as I can go fish, then what ever keeps her smiling!!!

PS, If I was a fishing, then SM in the AM/PM (Indian/Beaver/Otter Creek) and a little "minnow/jig time" for crappie at mid morning (when the SM FNF bite fades away). Looking for your post with PICTURES.

    BOBBER DOWN,
    GARY

I got a report from a guide at Lake Weiss yesterday. He said that Wed. he caught 130 crappie on a cork and fly. The weather there has been extremely cold for the past few weeks with ice in the shallow bays. The lake is 5 1/2 ft. below summer pool and water temps. on Wed. was a chilly 38 degrees.

Re: Warmup coming, where to fish?

Well - we got on the water at about 9:30 and had 5 in the boat by 10:30. Only 3 of those were bass. None of them big. The 2 bluegill were big ones.

I was surprised at the stained water at Cumberland.
