since you say "once on plane" i would assume you are idling with the motor down,you may have a cable binding,if you have the the nfb rack steering like i have on mine you may have a clutch problem in the helm,mine does,at idle it takes all i have to turn against the prop,not as much with it of course,when i get up and running it steers right,but feels weird,so as soon as it warms up i am going to replace it,make sure your tilt tubes,and nuts,are tight,as well as cables,i had to take my cable loose to figure out my problem.under the dash..
Richy,if you see this you may check your motor height on the transom,it sounds to be too high possibly if you can't trim up at all.your prop is biting,lifting and losing again.but it very well can be the hull itself,either way lowering the motor could help..
