Thanks Rock, I let him read the post and he is proud. That was literally the first fly he has ever tied. He is 14, he used to do some fly fishing with me when he was young, got where he could cast decent. Now he is in high school and spends time playing sports, talking to girls etc. He still is interested in fly fishing and bowhunting, just has other plans sometimes. I did the same thing when I was his age and came back to the outdoors. I expect he will do the same.

Mine does the same. They are busy with a young mans life we have to remember. They will always go back to hunting and fishing for the rest of their life.

Re: Lightning Bug Pics & Recipe

The bugger was the first fly my Dad ever taught me to tie. The great thing about them is that they are a fly that works no matter how they are tied! This last summer I was up in Northeaster Utah fly fishing some private lakes. I was throwing a mohair brown leech and the big trout were killing them! It seemed the more beat up the leech caught, the more they would bite it! Fished well into the night, still catching fish. When I woke up the next day and actually was able to see the fly that I was still nailing them on in the dark....there was only some brown thread and a few straggly pieces of mohair on it! lol! That fly had been put through the ringer!
