The 1197 used in this comparison probably has the free download software update for the down image scans. Would like to see the hummingbird 858 and 998 units for a true down image comparison. I've never used anything but hummingbird, untill i bought my last boat. it was a used boat, and it was rigged with eagles. so i upgraded to the hds-7 insight. and added the structure scan. used it 5 trips, and my motor started knocking. tore my motor apart. had a piston messed up from lack of oil from the auto oil injection. should get my rebuilding kit any day. so when i get my motor back up and running. I'll try and learn a little more about my first lowrance product. so far i like it.
