    J. Gumbo's, any one tried it?

I want to hear about your experience. Good? Bad? Let me hear EVERYTHING. I am thinking about taking a big risk and try to work for my self for once.

I might be thinking about it. I have some good friends that are willing to get me started up for a good price. I mean a REAL good price.

By the way Mark, when you get a chance try it out. There is one on 329 at the 22 interesection there to the right (as youre coming to 22).

I'll check it out, heck go for it Jason, why not. Sometimes taking a chance is well worth it.

I'm really thinking about it. For what I am looking at spending to get it running and after looking at the numbers for the current existing locations, its almost too good to be true!

Of course, the most difficult part is securing a loan. Luckily I have enough saved that my loan amount will be relatively small, but with the economy and lack of collateral...out look is not so good.

I've eaten at the one on Frankfort Ave a few times. Seemed pretty good. A lot of food for the price.

Thanks for your input Peter. Can you think of anything youd like to changed about the place and or food?

Cajun food! mmm mmm. My advice would be to locate in a highly visible, high traffic area.

The second thing is to have a good discussion with family members so they can know that working hours may sometimes be long and it won't be a 9-5 job. You have to hang in there and get yourself well established so you can make some serious money. The business may take off like a rocket or it may take a year or so to reap strong profits.

This site will give you some valuable information, including franchise fees.

    I wish you success.

I am thinking about moving it to the panhandle of Florida/South Alabama area.

As far as fees, lets just say, you cant get a better price then what I am being offered. Good to have good friends I suppose. Even though I obviously have no experience running a place like this, I will have some excellent support from people very close to me that are very successful in the business. I have zero debt, will have cheap living in the P'cola area via an uncle who owns some apartments, have a wife that is an RN for steady income, we both have cars that are paid for and in great shape to last us awhile, Ive heard that if youre going to go bankrupt that its best to do it before youre 30! So I figure if Im gonna do it, nows the time.

Now if I can find some fool to loan me about $40k (really thats pennies compared to the usual start up costs)!

    FANTASTIC FOOD.

A bunch of us make a few trips to Frankfort AVE a few times a month.

Not the greatest for you, but PRETTY good food.

    Drunken Chicken is DA BOMB.

Is there a motive behind why you can get started up for a REAL good price? How good are the "friends"? Most aren't just willing to share in something that is "lucrative" without getting something in return.

Not trying to be a downer, but sometimes if it sounds too good to be true, well you know the rest.........
