    Question Stake beds

I have been asked what the best natural materials (trees) are best for baking a stake bed for crappie/bass etc.. I really don't know the best answer so some help would be appreciated.

I would just find some old tobacco sticks, no one around here really uses em much anymore, you should be able to get some old ones cheap.

Year's ago we used old skids we nailed scrap pieces to the side and center 2x4's leaving one nail just started that way we could stack them on my friends pontoon boat we would take 1/2 concrete blocks to tie in the center. The wood used in skids is hard woods thus they lasted for a long time we would pull the slats up drive in the second nail loop a couple ropes in the slats and lower over the side. We could put out around 10 in half aday of course I was a lot younger then LOL Shinerman(Don)

I'm a new member here but i thought that you might try my little trick.
you cut about 20 to 25 river canes and stand up in a 5 gal. bucket full
of concrete. let dry then you place where you want an instant bush.

Cut some pieces of PVC pipe about 3' long and put them in a bucket of concrete at different angles. Makes good cover for crappie and bass and you don't get hung up like you would using trees or brush.
