Boy's...I was a two pack a day smoker for 22 years. Stopped cold turkey in 1995. The money I saved by not smoking, bought me a new 16 ft. skeeter in "95". Paid it of in "03 and traded that in for a new "03" Nitro NX750. Got well over a thousand dollars in rod and reels, for Bass, Crappie, and Catfishing. Nothing special, just good reliable outfits. Well over a thousand dollars in lures, tackle and equipment. Four weeklong trips to Kentucky Lake each year. Many more trips around home. Well.....That's how I did it!.....Think about it!

if your interested, you can use googlemap to locate where manchester, ky is. their is a good size creek that runs through manchester, it's called goose creek. highway 421 runs right through manchester, on the south end of town the road runs beside the river. you can see a concrete boat ramp. if fished from a boat, it needs to be a flat bottom. this creek holds some good size muskies. this old man is always in the paper, where he has caught a big muskie from goose creek. they say muskie, is the fish of a thousand cast. I don't think it will take that many cast, to hook one in goose creek.

I had been in Manchester quite a bit doing service at Memorial Hospital and never realized that. Does anyone fish from the bank for Muskie there?

    Re: Cost of Fishing?

I have three boats...two for fishing, one for family...the two fishing boats are not all that great and if this stupid economy would take a turn in the correct direction I wouldn't mind trading two for one...My own personal ideal fishing boat would be a Lund or a Carolina Skiff...but most likely a Lund...but dang fella's, aint no boats cheap no matter the who the manufacturer is...I'm tending to make me think I'll just keep what I got and be happy. As long as the tomato's and pepper's produce good and as long as I get to go fishing in the first place, then for me that's about as good as it gets.

I like green river lake, there are some in dale, but its a different ball game there. When I lived up north would always spend a week or two on lake view dessert, and some of the other lakes in vilas county. My cousin guided there for awhile, and my aunt had a house on the lake. that lake has hybrid musky[tiger], but true musky are there also close by.fished a few power plant lakes in Illinios that had musky also, there is a good musky lake lake in souitern Illinois also.

I have a rider clause on my fishing equipment on our insurance. I took pictures of everything and keep them in a safe. I really try not to think about how much I have in fishing, and believe me my wife likes to not think about it either, lol.

Like most have said, to each is their own. It just depends what your intentions are. If I fished a smaller lake I wouldn't have such a big boat. I have 05 triton 21ft. My warranty is good through 2011. I had always thought when it is up I would upgrade. But the boat is paid for now, and their is nothing wrong with it. Will prob. keep it for a long time. I have been driving a run down old truck because of my boat. My wife often reminds that if I get rid of the boat I can get a new truck. Of course my comment is always, naaaaaaa. I just wouldn't be happy without the boat. But you don't have to have the best one on the market.

I love speed myself ! I bought a 05 Screaming Eagle VROD that goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. Does 90 in second gear ! Will make you dizzy in first if you have the nerve to hold it ! Of course it is not as fast as the crotch rockets. Like my sons ZZR that registers for 170 MPH. It can not compete with their power/Weight ratio. I call the Vrod an old mans crotch rocket!

The wife and I once went 110 Mph down Hwy 75 without helmets . Looking back we say, How stupid was that !

yes, you can fish from the bank. the old guy that gets his picture in the paper, alone with the big muskie he caught. was caught from the bank, with a big cane pole and live bait. if your following rt. 421 south out of manchester about 3 miles. rt. 11 will turn right and it runs alone side the river. and their are a lot of good deep holes of water alone that road. in fact thats where old man charlie caught all his muskie. you said you had been to the hospital at manchester, where you cross the river at the little park going to the hospital. on the left you will see the fire department, behind the fire department is a very good streach of water for muskie. about 18 years ago, I was fishing from a 12 foot jon boat with my 10 year old daughter and hooked up with a muskie that pulled the
jon boat around broke water before it tore off. and the water was about 5 or 6 feet deep. they are some good people around manchester. fish from the bank anywhere you like. no one will care.
