    Question Suffix Braid

I fish a lot at night with a black light but I want to get into fishing with braid for the lack of stretch and the extra sensitivity. Does the Suffix Braid in the neon fire color glow well under a black light? Its the only braid that claims to be fluorescent so it seems like its my only hope.

I've tried it and it does not glow. You can try the stren glacier blue braid it shows up well under black light. But i would use a floro leader about 2 foot long.

Thanks for the reply. And sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but why would you use a fluoro leader? I've always used strictly mono so all this is quite new to me.

Stren MicroFuse Fluorescent Glacier Blue will glow under a blacklight. I've used it and it shows up very well under a blacklight.

If you don't use a leader and you are in clear water, the line will literally glow underwater to a certain depth.

Oh. Well that makes sense...Did you like the Stren? I've heard that it wasnt that managable. In other words, would you recommend getting it?

I WOULD recommend it. I didn't have much trouble at all with it in terms of manageability.

The only thing that discourages me from using braid at night is the lack of sight causes me to get hung up more and more -- and we all know how tough braid is. When you get hung up, you either have to cut your line or haul the sunken Toyota truck that you got hung up in to the boat.

I have heard sunline makes a braid or is it a floro thats invisible underwater yet the blacklight picks it up. But heard it is just about imposible to get. And not worth it. I did try fireline crystal because it is so white I thought it might pick up. But No. I also, heard that strens works. Just don't go to lite I broke it alot draggin a football jig and took it back.

i dont use a black light at nights. i will give up my sight for feel. i use flourocarbon line for the extra feel and since i have ben fishing the past two years with out using a light or blacklight i have ben catching more fish. it takes a little getting used to but the rewards are great. i will use a head lamp or a mag light every now and then just to see where the bank is. i dont know why i catch more fish without a black light but i do. but their are many fisherman out their that will swear by a black light at night. when i did use a black light i would use p-line cxx clear blue in 10 or 12 pound test and it worked good for me. never had any break offs like i did with stren use line conditioner it will help to.

Our last two boats have the cordless black lites, and are worth their wieght in gold! I religiously track our production and numbers have never been better. Use excel clear blue florenscent. 8-15lb I have floro for daytime and rods and spools set up with excel for nite. To each his own. Good luck.

Thanks for the input everyone! I love the blacklight too much to get rid of it though. I'll probably try the stren braid out a little. Thanks again for the input.
