Tackle shows guys, tackle shows. Gets you out of the house, and you can buy more tackle that you don't need.

Its been a cold winter, so ice fishing has been there. Go ice fishing with a guy who is really dedicated and into it.

Then you don't really have to do it, just watch him, when you get cold you can go sit in the truck, drink Jack D. and listen to Foghat.

I know its not like throwin a rattletrap all day, but it is fishin.

Other shows are upcoming: Ted's Aquamarine (tackle swap day), Indianapolis Boat Sport and Travel, etc. If you come to the Boat show, bring the kiddies the last Saturday for Kid's Day. The first so many paid admissions get a free rod and reel combo or a tackle box. My club should be volunteering at Reel kids that day also -- where kids try to hit targets with different casts. It's free.

River levels. I don't like being out on the river around Newburgh/Evansville area when it's above 27'.

Yes Mcalpine was 4 ft below flood stage last week. I've been fishing a feeder creek most of the winter with fairly good results. If you can find where the green water meets the mud you are in good shape. I use a slip bobber and minnow rig most of the time. Also you might want to carry some trout line and a big treble to clear any drift wood in the way. It's amazing what you can bring out off a whole no bigger than the size of a garbage can lid. Good luck...Chuck

If there isn't to much trash floating down I'll still head up the green but that's even risky with these water lvls lately. We are supposed to dropbelow 25 early next week so it'll be prime saug and striper time. Although Newburgh will be packed again. May have to head down to meyers and lock through. Amazing to me that there will be 30+ rigs in the lot at Newburgh by 7am. They are all up there playing bumper boats. I lock through at meyers and maybe at most 3 boats there and the fishing is soooo much better. I guess they don't like the couple mile run to the dam or the locks. Or maybe they like working 10x harder for bait at Newburgh.

love fishing the green but i have never fished it for stripers, fish it all the time for bass, do you find them below the dam? i have caught some sauger while going after some spotts.

    Re: Cabin Fever

I fish the green for cats. Where it dumps into the Ohio if the water is clearer on the green you can get stripers. Imo dam at meyers is 10x better for strippers than any other place around here. Sauger I fish the dischrage in downtown Evansville. I really only go to Newburgh when sauger aren't biting. Wayyyy to many boats up there and to many people acting stupid.
