The Elkhorn sure does offer some nice scenic beauty...I know there are decent fish in Elkhorn, but for me I'd be fine just taking the wife there for a picnic lunch or whatever, just hang out by the creek, get our lines wet, maybe catch a fish maybe not, it wouldn't matter, just as long as we were able to enjoy another beautiful day God created being outdoors.

C'mon springs showers, wash these winter blues away!!!

You could put in a the public ramp off of us 25 in georgetown(just north of down town) and float down to robinson lane(off of 460) which is also in georgetown. This would be a 6-8 hour trip. I know for a fact these are good smallmouth waters. Use rebel crawfish, strike king bitsy tubes and small floating rapalas. Keep it natural as far as colors.

I know where to go thank you very much. Wanna know why? Because I bought a map, put some gas in the car, and did some scouting. I wasn't lazy and just asked folks to broadcast specific locations so every Joe blow could show up, string up every decent fish and rape the resource. Seen it happen too many times. When you get to your spot, see multiple cars there and banks full of litter don't spend a whole lot of time wondering how it happened.....

The Robinson Lane take out has been closed down by the landowner..You'll have to take out at the dam. BE CAREFUL in doing so. Plus you'd have to portage the dam at Great Crossings.
It's a long slow paddle from once you hit the slow water behind Cane Run to Great Crossings.....I do know that for a fact. Mr Prowler and I have fished many miles of this creek for going on 10yrs that I've known him.

You have to really be careful of the advice you give folks nowadays. All some are interested in is fishing a creek. Although it's Elkhorn Creek, it's flow can really be scary at certain times. Folks that are not used to these kinds of waters can get themselves into trouble in an instant. I've fished from Kings Mill Rd to Galloway Rd. And Switzer to the Ky River on the North Fork, not all at once. But have numerous trips at different water levels. Most of the floats are an average of 5-7 miles. Some easy water and some rough water.
Some of the "never been there but always wanted to fish it" posters should heed this post. Take the time to buy a map and look at the stream from an overhead. Some of these floats are Put-in to take out only...No in between if you get into some type of distress. Cell phone service also goes in and out...

All in all just a little reminder to think about some safety and planning before fishing this creek...It has a lot to offer...Good and bad.

I came across a little harsh there. My panties were indeed in a bunch. Just realize that when you toss the "Internet cast net" you're going to catch several species. Some just do want to fish, others might not have the resources best interests in mind. The Internet is a big pond and it doesn't discriminate with regards to the type of person tha can obtain the information. I was lucky enough to get "the lecture" many many years ago and in the many years since I've grown to love and respect those that gave it. Just use a little caution is all I'm saying.....

Yeah every spot posted on this board will get raped. Dont kid yourself if you go to the local tackle store and tell where you caught a big bass or two it will have 10 times the impact posting on this board will. Its not like any part of Elkhorn is top secret territory anyway. The only thing you gotta worry about is pissed off landowners. But if you talk to them most will be pretty nice. Might as well close this board down if everyone asking questions is just lazy and answers result in rape.

When did the landowner stop letting people put in at robinsons? Just curious. Not doubting you. Also not many stretches in elkhorn were you can go 5+ miles without havin to pull your boat out and tote around a dam.
