    UK Down Low

Is it just me or has UK started to flex their muscles more down low? I'm seeing a stronger effort to get Cousins the ball. Anyone else see that?

It's his turn to shine and I'm thinking that alot of teams figured out how to slow down Wall and Bledsoe.

If Cousins and Patterson along with Orton can make that threat down low even worse then UK will be very tough to prepare for in the tourny as they get this together.

BTW I was impressed with how they handled Vandy. Good thing it wasn't played in Vandy!

So I get on ESPN this morning and see that Wall had a problem with the way he was playing lately with the turnovers. I'm not sure what Calipari said to him but they had to kiss and make up. I would say a little less Wall is good for the team. Let the big guys eat too....

wall is frustrated because its gotten a little tougher and those easy plays arent so easy anymore. wall made some comments about how cal said he didnt play all that good in south carolina and wall felt different. cal showed him the game tape and i guess wall saw a little of what cal was talking about. he also said he hadnt had any fun playing the last couple of weeks, which goes back to things getting tougher and i think hes put alot of pressure on himself to perform at the highest level every game. it also doesnt help that some so-called UK fans feel they have the right to bash or criticize a player who is not performing well enough to suit them. we all have bad days and the last thing we need is someone running their mouth and making it worse. GO CATS!!!!

Wall said in reference to a question asked about play calls in timeout's...'' I don't do what he says half the time I just do what I need to do to help us win the game''.

WOW, If I had a kid say that about me as coach to the media he would have a seat by me for awhile, I don't give a rats ass how good he is.

I lost a little for Wall on that one. He is 19 years old so I'm keeping that in perspective.
Calipari is trying to make a big joke out of it. Players run his team anyway, they always have. Watch Cousins and Bledsoe yell at him back on the bench when they are taken out of a game.

i dont think there is a player in the SEC that can stop BIG CUZ, and now it looks like Patterson is going to be looking for his outside shot more, at least thats what i saw in the vandy game, it might be even easier for Cuz to score down low. Orton is going to be a great player on the offensive end, its just taking him longer, i think, to develope into a threat. i love his attitude and his defense, especially his shot blocking ability.

Orton is going to be very good! I like to see him on the floor blocking and intimidating the other players. Patterson? I guess I have never figured him out....

mhall I have to take you to task on that comment. Walls comment was in reference to Cal saying he played poorly in the South Carolina game not play calls. And what he said was I don't listen to him (meaning the criticism). Still not what you want to hear from a player not quite as bad you portrayed it.

I'll try and find the exact quote but I'm not very far off at all. They played it on all three of our local news last night. Wall has already apologized to Calipari for saying it. Again I'm not bashing the kid as I've sang Wall's praises since he showed up, I like the kid, check prior posts.

It wasn't as easy as you made it sound either, not the clip I saw anyway. The tone of the comment was he didn't listen to his coach. I'll try and find it on Youtube, but I'm not much of a copy and paste guy.

I think Cousins is a scary, scary good offensive player. He reminds me of Shaq with some shooting touch. Despite not being able to jump very well, he has a knack for getting a lot of rebounds that he shouldn't get.

Much scarier to me than Wall.

He has several quick moves to the hole to, very hard to guard.

    Re: UK Down Low

John Wall doesn't look like he's smiling as much as he was earlier in the season.

When I asked him if that was true, he agreed.

Wall was called out by Cal after the Cats lost to South Carolina. Cal was trying to defend Patrick Patterson who was taking some heat for his play, and in the process, he was strong about Wall.

"I don't know. He said I played awful," says John Wall.

"I didn't think I played that bad. I don't know what to expect. He's probably going to say I played bad today too so. I don't know. I just try not to listen to him and go out and play basketball and try and help my team win."

This is from the original article by Alan Cutler. I just think that the kid spoke out of frustration and the media has run with it. We have to keep in mind that this is a 19 year old who is not used to a coach taking his performance to task.
