high water has most of the ramps an parking lots flooded right now so you need to do some research to be shure the aera you are planning to visit is fishable right now
we are wanting to go down on the 19th but are worried about the high water was told last night all the gates were wide open and the water was on the rise an just a few feet from going over the top of the dam

Hmmmm, I was down there in may for the first time. Houses and docks are built right on the water with fixed posts into the ground. Made me think that this was a spillway type lake where the water was limited to a maximum level that would not cause any damange to these houses. A few of these dock houses were +200K kind of boat docks and I would be very suprised if they flood.

Water in parking lots would flood most of the fixed structures on the lake. Anyone know about this?

That would make sense. Don't think they'd risk flooding houses and ruining docks? I'm sure the dam has a spillway for such highwater levels. I'm going to check it out. Thanks.

Looks like the Guntersville Dam has an 18-bay spillway system for high water. Didn't know this, but it also has two locks for water travel up the tennessee river...cool. They say it is the most stable lake of the TVA system, only raising two feet for summer pool! That definitely has to be the reason why the bass do so awesome there, and the grass beds are phenomenal! Here's the link:
