I just jumped in Ky lake as part of the Polar Plunge to raise money for special olympics. I knew it would be cold, but it really takes the breath out of you. The worst part is, I had to do it in a pair of Speedo's only. Four of the special education teachers in the area, promised we would if our team raised 5,000 dollars - we raised over $9,000 from our team alone, and over $30,000 total from the area (much larger than we anticipated when the challenge was made). It was fun, but really opened up my eyes to how serious a fall in cold water could be. I am looking forward to doing it again next year, and I am glad we raised such a big chunk of money for much needed program that relies on donations and fundraising to operate.
