    Re: Dear Skeet, WHAT HAPPENED?

I am calling BS on the pros catching all the fish here in Central Ky so easy. I have fished against most of them at one time or another and they are only as good as the locals that tell them where to go if you think that I am full of BS then pay your money when and if they ever come back around here and find out. My bet is that they won't be coming any time soon due to the fact that the fishing is tough here.

I hear you man, I know K.V.D. can catch fish. and he's my pick of all the pros. but I would love to see him fish laurel in the middle of february. { NO LIVE BAIT] and watch him strike out. laurel lake is the toughest lake I ever fished in the winter months. spring, summer nights, and late fall it's great fishing. but for me the winter months are a nightmare. and I keep going back. fished about 4 1/2 hours yesterday, without a single bit.

Are you saying they violate one of the rule on a regular basic?

Sure there are some of the lower tier guys that would struggle like the normal fisherman but the top guys in the sport can come to YOUR water and smoke you like a turkey. And make you like it. (:

I know of no rules against doing your homework before the tournament, not during any offlimits.

check these results and see if they caught em good. Less than 12 lbs. per day to win and just over 8 lbs. per day for second. In May during the spawn.

Doing homework is fine as long as they don't have help from others such as locals.

    Re: Dear Skeet, WHAT HAPPENED?

some of the rules to help you refresh your memory.

    "3. PRACTICE AND COMPETITION:

    (i) There will be no off-limits period for any tournament unless specified by the Tournament Director. Special off limits and practice periods for the Bassmaster Classic, the BASS Federation Nation Championship or the Bassmaster Junior World Championship will be announced by BASS. (ii) There will be an official practice period immediately prior to the first day of competition. The exact dates and times of the practice period must be obtained from the BASS Federation Nation Department. The competitor must know and observe these dates and unless otherwise specified, all times are time zone specific to the local community. During practice and competition a competitor can only have the assistance or advice of another competitor for the purposes of locating or catching bass on tournament waters. Competitors may only fish with other competitors during official practice and competition. Flying over tournament waters during competition is not allowed. (iii) Testing of engines after the weigh-in is only allowed with permission from the Tournament Director. No exceptions. During the official practice and during the tournament, a competitor may not "SKIN DIVE" or "SCUBA DIVE" in the tournament waters. (iv) No competitor may buy or barter a fishing location from any other competitor for use during any competition day. (v) During the official competition days of the tournament, a competitor may not use a CB radio, a VHF marine-band radio, a cellular phone, or any other type of communication device for the purpose of locating or catching fish. Competitors are permitted to transmit by radio or telephone only in the event of an emergency. Cell phones cannot be used until fish have been weighed. If so equipped, competitors may listen to the marine-band weather information. (vi) A designated tournament official must be granted access to the competitor's boat at any time during the official practice or competition days. Failure to grant such access may result in immediate disqualification. (vii) Each competitor agrees to report to the Tournament Director any violation or infraction of any Tournament Rules. Failure to report violations or suggestions to another competitor that they violate these Rules or false verification of weigh-in forms will be cause for disqualification.

By his/her signature on the official tournament entry form, each competitor agrees to submit to a polygraph examination and abide by its conclusion should he/she be accused of any rule violation. The BASS Tournament Director or rules committee or such person designated by the Tournament Director shall have the discretion to determine the need for a polygraph examination. The BASS Tournament Director or his/her designee shall be responsible for selecting an independent expert to administer and interpret the results and establishing, in consultation with the expert administrator, the scope of the questions which may be asked during the polygraph examination. The BASS Tournament Director or his/her designee shall attempt to have the location of such polygraph examination as close in proximity to the angler's permanent address or such other mutually convenient location as possible. The competitor shall make himself/herself available at the location selected by the Tournament Director and shall cooperate in all respects with such examination"

I remember they had a tough time fishing Herrington a few years back. IIRC 2/3rds of the field blanked and 6#s won the tourney. I believe it was only a 5 or 6 hour long tourney though.

It was a three day tourney and it was only on Herrington for 4 hours one day. The next day they were on Guist Creek and the third day on Taylorsville. Trust me, six pounds did not win the tourney, heck Zell Rowland caught a 6 pounder at taylorsville the final day!
