Guys i Have a lowrance 520c gps sonar unit and i have got problems with it. When i first got it, it worked fine and was great.. Now it wont load the maps up when u get on the lake ... its like stuck in between the navionics and the base map, but sometimes when you take the card out it will load the creek names of the lake up and then sometimes it will show everything that should be on the card. What im trying to say is im having trouble getting it to work with the navionics card in it. Its not wanting to load anything up. Im thinking it has something to do with the card reader in the unit, could the card go bad??? Need some help from you guys cause LOWRANCE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS BAD! Can not get them to pick up the phone, Always on hold.

Haha, I'm glad to hear someone else bought a Humminbird, but this is a quick fix. Go to your chartplotter screen, hit "menu" and go down to "map data.". Select it and go to "map datum" I believe, and hit the drop bar (should be preset on Lowrance map) and select Navionics. Then, go over to "Navionics Map Choice," and open the dropbar. Here, you will select whatever state you are in (I.e. KY); you are done, unless you go into another state, like crossing into TN from KY on Dale, KY, and Barkley Lakes. PM me if you are still having issues. I work with various fishfinders all the time at BPS.
No its doing that with me selecting ky or tennesse. Thats not the problem but appreciate the help. I hate to just go buy a new hummingbird cause i got 600.00 dollars in this one.

I am having the exact same issues with mine Fisherman0625. Mines only a couple of years old....every time i've called customer service i just sit on hold and get even madder. I was thinking of sending it in to them to fix whatever's doing it...? I've tried rebooting which helps for a day or so but then right back to messing up. it's on the KY version of Navionics so I know that's not it.
Very frustrated because those things aren't cheap.
when u put ur chip in a humminbird u dont have to drop down nothin, it sets it automatically.
alright i originally had two 520c's, then on the third trip back to lowrance one morphed into a 525c. i also use the navionic chips in both. i have experienced similar problems also even though it isn't exactly the same that you are mentioning.
here is what i have done in the past. SAVE your waypoints onto a chip and take any notes on how you like your screen setup because you need to do a hard reset (see manual, i forget). load your waypoints and test out the navionic chip before you go back and personalize your screens.
i feel your pain. i have had a lot of issue and now i am scared of sending them back. i haven't dropped lowrance like many others, but i will look into when these no longer work. hope this helps.
Is Linda Colt not working for Lowrance anymore? She's always been extremely nice and helpful. She has always returned my calls and/or emails promptly.
here is some light reading to fill you in what is going on...

Well that was interesting Bradd. Lowrance just lost any future business from me; and, I will be shopping for new electronics soon.
Best of luck Linda.
