Man, that was some great hockey to watch! Both sides should be proud. They played their hearts out, and they did it cleanly, although if it had been NHL rules (5 for fighting) instead of IiHC rules (ejection/suspension), there might have been a fight or two.I had to work Sunday so I recorded the game, and I actually knew the outcome before I watched it, but still, getting towards the end of the third period, I was sitting on the edge of my chair thinking, "Are these guys REALLY gonna tie this one up?" And of course Sid the Kid scored that game-winner in OT. As if he weren't enough of a rock star in Canada as it is! Oh well, I'm really disappointed we lost, but if we had to lose to somebody, then it's good it worked out like it did.
BTW I hope they lighten up on the Canadian women's team for their on-ice celebration after they won the gold. They just won the biggest game they'll ever get to play in their lives (after all, they can't play for the Stanley Cup) so they celebrated by pounding a few Molsons and smoking some stogies. Big deal, THEY EARNED IT! So they shouldn't have done it on the ice with kids in the stadium. I say give them a pass, I'm sure they'll all promiise never to do it again.
