... Pappy
I'd add to that small Panther Martin in-line spinners. I like the gold-bladed, black body or the silver blade, yellow body. But live bait always outperforms artificial -- minnows for crappie and crickets for bream.
BPS Ringer and stinger bodies. Favorite color Black and Chartruese. 32nd to 1/8 oz jig heads.
I like cabin creek popeye jigs 1/32 oz, and 1/16 oz orange, or the standard colors, black and white, chartrues. Tip it with a crappie bite white in color power bait brand. I also like bps 1/32 jig head with a small firetiger color grub also bps.
Planning on hittin' em' hard with my Fly Rod this year but when I'm chuckin' I like the 1.5" to 2" tubes on 1/32, 1/16, or 1/8 depending on what I need for what I'm trying to do and the sink rate that seems to be turnin' them on that day. Red, blue, black, or white with chartreuse tail have always been all I have ever needed to deal with most water conditions. Road Runner type baits are great, beetle spin sometimes and used correctly, small rattle traps have worked great for trolling. Good luck, maybe i'll see you over there, as I am back in NKY now. Spring Classic!
I use trout magnets fished under a small pear shaped bobber. I fish it like the float and fly method and the bluegill and redear can't pass it up. It will also catch crappie. The are very hard to find at any stores and would advise to get them right from the website(www.troutmagnet.com). You won't be disappointed if you try them. I like the natural colors and also the white/red. I hope this helps.
I use one of my hand tied jigs or a weedless tube jig head I make and a tube. You may have to tip them with a little extra treat from time to time but those two usually do it for me when it comes to gill and slabs.....Good Fishin'...
Popeyes and waxies for both. Smaller for the finicky bite, bigger for the more aggressive. Renosky 1.5" minnows slayed the bull gills last year. No more than hit the water and the fight was on.
Charlie Brewer slider grubs on crappie slider heads. Cold, cold water I would go with marabou jigs under a bobber. All else fails try a minner.
What about the good ol' Johnson Beetle Spin? 1/32oz and tipped with a wax worm--tough to beat!
