Any of Buck Perry's books will fill the bil, especailly: "Spoonplugging-A Guide to Lunker Catches."
go to the website: http://www.buckperry.com/index.php
look down the left side and click on EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, to get that and other books. I will guarantee that will be the best $20 you will ever spend on fishing information.
Grumpy
The book is called "Better Bass Fishing" by robert montgomery. Just finished it about 3 weeks ago. Great book!!! Easy to read.
'(WARNING side effects may include cabin fever...LOL!)
I'd suggest any book about fishing by the staff of In Fishermen. Bucks book is good, if you'r3 willing to go that way.
You want a complete bass book (behavioral nature and scientific research)???? Try reading Knowing Bass, by Dr. Keith A Jones, PhD. Dr. Jones works for Pure Fishing (Berkley, Abu Garcia, Spiderwire, Stren, etc.). This is a pretty tough book to read in terms of scientific terminology, but once I started I vowed not to lay it down.
Does it catch fish? Maybe. Is it going to make you the best angler out there? No, but you will learn some pretty valuable information regarding bass behavior and sensory mechanisms based solely on research.
I second Knowing Bass.. Take it for what its worth tho, it doesnt come right out and tell you exactly what to throw where, but it helps you understand bass senses better than anything else will. I found it very interesting, i read it in pretty much 3 days because i couldnt help but pick it up every chance I got.
thanks guys, will be taking a trip to Barnes and Noble soon ...
Knowing Bass, can be a little long winded, but it has good info. Any of the in fisherman books are good, If you buy In Fishermans (LARGEMOUTH BASS) don't bother buying their (LARGEMOUTH BASS FUNDEMENTALS), because the first of the two has FUNDEMENTALS page for page in it. KVD's books are good, and Bob McNally has one called BASS INDEPTH whics is good.
I think it was ed zern who wrote the fishing bible. A jerk on one waiting for a jerk on the other end.
hahahaha ...
Knowing Bass is a great read if you're into the scientific aspect of fishing. Dr. Jones (who also contributes to Bassin Times) gives you the ability to "think like a bass".
I have a good collection of books and these are the best ones.
Both Kevin Van Dam books-lots of info on lots of topics in both
Both Denny Brauer books-one is on jig fishing and one is on tournament tactics, a little out dated but good info and some good stories
The new in-fisherman critical concepts books on Largemouth-I think they are volumes 1 and 2. Pretty reasonable prices also. If you gotta get one get volume 2.
Big Bass Zone-great book on fishing for trophy bass
