Had a great day trolling for trout on Laurel today, quit counting at 30. Had lots 2lbers, 8 in the 5lb range and 1 that my bubby is having mounted, a monster 8lb. The 8lb had a hooked bottom jaw like a salmon, first time I have ever seen that. Wanted to stay longer but the wind as blowing and its was really cold.

We were trolling orignal rapala's, so I guess they were 3 to 5ft. As for speed, dont have a clue. The boat has a 30hp motor and the throttle was just out of neutral, we made a make on it so we could get the right speed after we made runs to different spots. It was a blast. Amazing how much better they fight now compared to catching them under lights.
Big old male trout will have that hooked jaw...a thing of beauty! Congrats on the excellent fishing, sounds like fun!Had a great day trolling for trout on Laurel today, quit counting at 30. Sounds like a great day.....Just wait til the water temp rises above 50 and a five lber will fight like a 10 lber.Did y'all take any pics???Dave
My buddy is emailing me some. As soon as I get them Ill post them. We caught all rainbows, but Ive heard there are some browns in there. Wonder what would make them bite?
They are spooky ********.If there is ample forage, they are the toughest fresh water fish to catch. The rainbow fishing has been tough on DaleHollow ever since they raised the lake to summer pool in early feb.It was great before that.I love this time of year ordinarily.Last Feb I got one over 10 lbs.....Look forward to seeing those pics Dave
I was on laurel yesterday, the water temp was 40.2 and I never got a single bit. but I was fishing for smallmouths. I did see 4 other boats on the water. and three were trolling. I watched them, and if any fish were caught. they were caught when I wasn't looking. one boat was leaving when I was, they weren't very friendly. but when I ask if they had any luck, one kinda grunted out we caught a few. it's funny how people are different, when I catch a few . I am very happy and friendly.the water had cooled down 3 degrees from last friday.last friday it was 43.8 in crags creek.![]()
Well they read a report like that and they expect to fill the boat.Trout lakes in the south turn on and off like crazy,I've had 50 plus fish days so I can understand being disappointed with 5 or so....
