I bought an HDS-7 last summer and everything was fine with it until I hooked up the StructureScan. I thought the StructureScan was causing the problem until I realized the HDS-7 was full of water. This was the day we left to go to Cumberland for a week between Christmas and New Year's. Sent the HDS-7 back to Lowrance and they replaced it. I just recently got it back and went down to Wood Creek Lake yesterday. I didn't fish as much as my partner because I couldn't take my eyes off the StructureScan!! The detail is just amazing. It's a fantastic piece of technology - I just hope that they have the problem with the seals resolved for good.

I bought a new hds-7 with insight, last fall. and put the structure scan on it in december. haven't had a chance to use it much, but what i've used it. I really like it. works great, I've had no problems with mine at all.

I've been looking into buying a lowrance depth finder with structure scan. Just wondering is the transducers sold separately for every model HDS? Because I was looking at a Cabela's catalog and i thought i saw one going for like $550.

the structure scan, has it's own transducer. the black box and transducer cost around 550.00
any hds unit will work with it. the structure scans is a black box, and it has three outlets. it will run up to three units. if you have only one hds unit, use it and leave the other two empty. if you have three hds units, run three lines to the black box. and all three units show the same thing. and you can use the regular transducer also, mount both transducers one foot apart. it's a great outfit. you will love it.

star marine depot. has the lowrance structure scan for 589.95 and they don't charge any tax on it. thats were I bought mine. they had the best price I could find.

when you google star marine depot, the page will show all hds units.
it won't show the structure scan.
in the little search window, type in lowrance structure scan. then click on go, or search. and it will show up.

I realize this is an old thread , but can someone with the knowledge help me out with this ? I want to get the HDS7 , but I need to know some info first. Please if you have one , or are very familiar with one send me a PM. Thank you.
