Kind of curious to what everyone thinks about Bunnings decision to vote no on the extension of unemployment benefits are.
I understand where he's coming from in his decision, but with the economy worsening, I would think they (federal government) could rearrange some of the budget. Here’s my concern: There are people who draw unemployment just because they can, they put forth very little effort, if any, to try to find a job, this would definitely cut those people off. On the other hand, there are people who try very hard to find work, any work, and the work is just not out there right now. The little guy is going to be hurt. I feel they (federal government) should try to implement some sort of job corp for these employable people. Heck, put them to work on the roads or railroads one or two days a week, or whatever. I know on my drive to and from work each day there's a ton of potholes that need to be fixed! At least the people would be earning their unemployment and it would have to be cheaper than paying all the benefits of hiring a person to do these non skilled jobs. No it’s not permanent, but it sure would be a good way to make everyone earn their keep. How many parks department workers have lost their jobs, same deal, have some people on unemployment spend a day or two each week working in the city parks. I don't know, my idea's probably make to much sense for teh governement...the entire budget thing is more than I can grasp anyway.
