    Re: Bunning's Decision

What about those people on unemployment that wont take a job because its "below" them? I think we all know some one right now on unemployment that could get a job making SOMETHING but instead are "waiting" on that job they "deserve."

Tough issue here thats for sure.

    Re: Bunning's Decision

I've been thinking about this some more...There is a right way to seek election or relection and a wrong way. Since Bunning didn't care one way or another about getting relected I think it helped play a role in the decision he made. I think he spoke what was on his mind so to speak...whereas maybe if he was seeking relection he might not have made the same decision. I'm not laid off (yet), so his decision doesn't affect me directly...but there are plenty of people out there who it's going to affect pretty hard. I hope those people who's benefits are about to run out will find a way to make ends meet...a lot of us here on this board know first hand what it feels like to have more time left at the end of the month than you have money, it's not a fun place to be.

    Re: Bunning's Decision

My thought is we all want to help people in need. But how many people would borrow money to give to those in need. No, instead you'd sell stuff or rearrange your budget and give them the money you could spare. Bunning's stance is if it's important enough, they'll find the money for it without more deficit spending.

Cut some federal waste and programs, then use that money to extend employment benefits. While you're at it cut some more programs/government/federal workers and start digging us out of this God forsaken hole you've borrowed us into.

First program to drop is the asinine 2000 page "Healthcare Reform" bill. Fix the existing entitlement programs you've screwed up already up before trying to introduce more.

Take money from the stimulus bill to extend unemployment, then you could say with a straight face it actually served some purpose. Call in the TARP notes immediately and give them that money.

Fire a few useless Czars in the current administration and use that money.

Abolish the Homeland Security Department and use that money.

Use the piles of cash being spent on Census advertisements.

Take a few less flights on Air Force one and use that money.

    Drop the sponsorship of NPR.

Get rid of Sarbanes Zoxely NOW.

Eliminate tax 'refunds' amounting to more than people have paid in to begin with.

I could go on all night...

If Bunning were running again I'd vote for him.

I heard from one lady working AT the UI Office say that she made LESS per week than the people she was filing claims for!!! I just think there is something REALLY wrong with that poor lady working with all those people, who I imagine can be real "gems" at times to work with, and making less for doing her job. JMO.

Well...so he decided to reverse his decision. Maybe he was feeling the heat from his fellow politicians or maybe the protesting got the best of him, who's to say? One thing's for sure, he sure got some attention directed in the direction it needed to go...STOP ridiculous spending, put the money where it really needs to go, etc. I agree that Bunning could stand to work on his social skills some, but I like the approach he took on this ordeal. But you all know, it's only a 30 day extension, I guess this gives the government 30 days to figure how to get the funds straightened out and allocated in the proper places? At some time or another fella's, somebody is going to have to be the bad guy and drop the hammer and say, NO MORE EXTENSIONS! I wonder when that time is good? Is when unemployment falls back down to below 5% or what?

I agree with you Chub on the NO MORE EXTENSIONS. At some point time runs out. What then? Currently, I'm employed and I thank the Lord for that. But I know if I were unemployed and drawing a check that someday the checks will quit coming. I hope in the 30 day extension everyone looking for a job gets one but its not likely. The money will run out eventually. Bunning didn't deny anyone the money they were entitled to, he just said no to the money beyond what unemployment offers anyway.

I truly feel bad for those who have lost their jobs and don't know when or where the next job will be. And I hope the economy picks up enough to get working people working. The November elections should prove VERY interesting.

    God bless America!
