I'm planning on going to Meldahl Dam Sunday to fish for sauger. This will be a new experience for me, so I need to know where the closest ramps are, on either side of the river. Also, is this a good time of year at the dam for hybrids and if so, how do you target them? I have fished strictly for bass for many years and I'm getting the itch to try some new things.

the closest to the dam and best ramp is in Neville about a 1.5 miles below the the dam on the Ohio side of the river, new ramp with great parking. There is a ramp on the Kentucky side directly across fron Neville but not nearly as good and also lousy parking. I live in Northern Ky and the Neville ramp is actually 2 miles closer for me. Was there on tuesday, was alittle slow but my partner and I still managed about twenty sauger. Do google maps and you will find it easy enough.
The ramp in Foster is OK, but right now it is unusable. Full of mud and debris from the river to the RR tracks. I have been using this ramp for 15 years. It doesn't have a whole lot of parking but it is a decent ramp and its free. It is directly across from the Neville ramp on the Ohio side.
