We use thousands of Dell desktops and a few servers, though most of our server are IBM. Dell quality and service is not great.

I hope Gateway has improved since I fooled with them years ago, or you'll be badly disappointed there. Don't know about HP.

Don't overlook IBM, while prices are a little higher their service is second to none. I've dealt with them hundreds of times on server class equipment, and IMO they're the best. Their call centers are here in the US, which of course doesn't guarantee you'll get someone with English as a first language, but it sure improves your odds. There's a saying to the effect of "Nobody ever got fired for recommending IBM".
