    Cumberland Conditions for 3/6/10

Is the lake back close to 680 yet? I'm thinking of taking what feels like my first FNF trip of the seas (been about 2 months) and what probably will be my last. Just wondering if things have settled down on C-Land yet.

    Thanks!

I was at Backwaters Tuesday and they said it was close to 680. Said they have been pulling hard to get the lake back down. But, that it was muddy.

    Michael,
See link for lake levels... http://www.orn.usace.army.mil/hh/resplots/wol.gif

Lake is clearing.., but not there yet. Was at Lees Ford (mid lake) Wednesday and water was pea green, as opposed to MUDDY the least several weeks . Creeks are clearing and lower lake (Wolf Creek Dam) area should be improving with the reduced discharge from Wolf Creek. Dropping water levels have "parked all the wood, logs, etc on the shore lines" .

Give it a try and let me know how you make out. For me, I'll be out of the area until middle of next week, but looking forward to getting back out there with the FNF one more time this year .

    Bobber Down,
    Gary

Thanks Gary. I'll let you know how we do. I was mostly concerned with the water color. I'm not 100% sure we'll go to Cumberland yet, but I'm leaning toward it.

Give me a shout if you have room in the boat when you make your last FnF trip of the year.

Michael my peeps are telling me it's improving bigtime daily. However they are pulling the tar out of the lake, to the point of the lower end having almost a current in spots. All four sluice gates are wide open. Lake is about 682 and change right now. Some decent water can be found way back in some of the creeks but not all. Around Jamestown and State it's still Pea soup. East end of the lake Fishing creek has decent water clarity but not great. Way back in Indian has decent water clarity. Some other creeks off Indian have decent water clarity as well.

It's not clear anywhere and down right muddy still in spots, water temps are VERY cold by Cumberland standards for this time of year. If I was you I would go to Dale, I personally think the Big C is still has a ways to go just yet. If you go I would love a report though and of course good luck to you if you make it out.

Mark - thank you very much for the very detailed report. I really appreciate it.

We're just going out in the afternoon for a few hours and don't really have much optimism for catching fish. We just want to be outside in warmer weather. Dale is a little too far for us with the time allowed.

We may just go to a small lake closer to home and just see what happens, but I'll definitely report whatever we do.

I here ya, The Army Corp website yesterday said they were all open. If they are shut down that means they are finally getting ahead of the game instead of playing catchup. Good news there.

Mark I think Randy said the sluice gates were closed, the number you are refering to is the generators.

Unhappy Re: Cumberland Conditions for 3/6/10

The river at burkesville is to thick to drink, and to thin to plow. the level has dropped quitea bit. they will probably drop it down to where you cant fish with most boats, just about the time for the white bass fishing, who the hecks army is running the corp?
