I'm glad to see I'm not the only one risking the $100 fine by not answering all of the questions.

    Re: Census or Privacy invasion

I agree with Road Toad, the video in the first post is a contrived pack of lies and most of what he talks about is not anywhere on the form. I think this thread is a case of paranoia feeding on itself and I wonder how many of you have read the ACTUAL 2010 Census form/questionaire?

The form explains, in detail, the reason why each question is asked and tells what the information will be used for. When large numbers of people in a particular areas fail to, or refuse to, answer the questions all you are really doing is hurting your own community. Federal, State and local organizations use the Census data in determing a multitude of programs, from Congressional Representatives all the way done to how much money is allocated for such things as food stamps, Secion 8 Housing, schools, and so on. Refuse to answer the questions if you want, but don't complain later when you lose your job and there is no money to pay for you Unemployment insurance.

I have no idea why you all have such a problem with this. Whatever, I filled mine out last night, no big deal. It isn't asking how much you make or how often you have sex or how much you beat your wife. I mean what is the problem, I bet you don't have a problem writing down dependants on your tax forms for a rebate do you.

LOL last week we got an envelope in the mail from the census bureau. Thought it was the form, instead it was a letter telling us we will be getting the form. How crazy is that?

I think you mean RACE questions, not RACISM.

"State governmemts use the data to determine congressional, state, and local voting districts. Race data are also used to assess fairness of employment practices, to monitor disparities in charateristices such as health and education and to plan and obtain funds for public services."

It only becomes racism when it is used to determine fairness of employment practise,( I thought we got rid of quotas) to monitor dispararities in charateristices such as health and education and to obtain funds for public services. Come on why are people of different races treated different we should all be treated the same and no one needs to know what race you are unless you plan to treat different races different which is racism.

    Color/Race <> qualified
    Color/Race <> unqualified

Employment fairness? Add more data elements in an effort to determine fairness.
    - Education level
    - Years experience
    - Criminal record or lack thereof
    - IQ
    - Writing ability as demonstrated on resume
-THEN add in race including white
    - and compare to levels of employment within age groups and by industry (92 year old white males with Doctor's degrees do poorly in Professional Football Hiring circles)

After that analysis, save a detailed documented complaint, all you have is a considered declaration of "what is", without a true cause and effect relationship. Numbers can never truely disclose intent. Numbers can create perceptions. But not motivations. Racism is motivated.
