I have never caught a crappie on purpose so my goal for this spring is to catch a crappie.
In you guys opinions what will this upcoming rain do for the crappie bite? I hope to go on Saturday (rain or shine) and am looking for any tips.
Thanks!

The warm rain should heat them up but they will still be in deeper water unless you are fishing a pond, creek, or river. The creeks are the best places to catch them this time of year as long a you can get to them. They will be in thick brush most of the time so the best way to catch them is using a slip float and minnow, drop it right down in the brush, and reel like crazy when you get a hit. When you find a tree with them on it you can limit out in just an hour or so. Good luck!
The crappie are some-what shallow around North Fork at Rough River, the ones we caught were HEALTHY.
Find where the warm rain water has washed through a creek and it has cleared back up. Any cover - mostly brush but the they will pull up on rocks or along a sharp drop and the crappie in that warmer, cleared up water will be itching to bite. Just move around until you find them. Throwing small tube or curly tail jigs on light spinning tackle is prime. You can put a small bobber 2 or 3 feet above a crappie tube and reel in slowly is also a prime trick...
The rain may warm the water up a little, but I would still fish deep. Fished everyday last weekend and caught some good quality fish. Fish were holding in 18 fow from the bottom up to 12' in stump fields. Pink tubes and minnows was the ticket.
