No gobbling but last week while shed hunting I saw several longbeards in the field approaching some hens. I sat down and watched for a few as they were out in a cut field. One fanned out and strutted just a bit as he was showing off for the ladies, they seemed very unimpressed, lol.
I heard a couple of gobbles a couple of weeks ago, and even in Jan. No sheds found today either.
Still seems to be a little slow around here. I have yet to hear a gooble or see any strutting activity. Not sure what is going on.
my brother was at our hunting lease saturday and he said they were gobbling like crazy. said he watched several jakes and 4 toms strutting and carrying on. it wont be long before the youth hunt and will be taking my oldest again for his second year. hope it works out for him like last season. i called for him and three came in strutting and gobbling. he shot the first one that gave him a shot and it had two beards. one was 10 1/2 and the other was 8 3/4.
Tim I saw a lot of strutting this weekend in Robinson IL after their High School team won the 2A boys basketball State Championship. I work in Robinson and live seven miles away. They have a 7 footer Meyers Leonard who has signed a letter of intent to the University of Illinois. http://www.herald-review.com/sports/
Tuesday while driving down WK Parkway with a friend we saw several strutters in various field between Leitchfield and E-Town.
Gobbling their heads off in Anderson county this morning. Hens were yelping, gobblers were yelping and going crazy. On and off the roost. Would shock gobble at coyote howling and even pup-in-distress.
On my way to work in LaGrange this morning I saw a monster strutting his stuff right there in between Babtist North East and The Rawlings Group by that electrical box. He was a beast!
