I don't think anyone knows whats in this thing so why are they trying to push it through so fast? Who cares if it takes another month to try and understand it? The majority of the people want something done but not the way it's getting sold to us.
We are not addressing the cause of the problem...we are just adding another layer of legislation in a losing situation. Typical gubment solution huh? We can fix it by taxing you more and hiring tons of people to work for us which helps create the need for this program in the years to come. When we have the program in place the gubment will say oops we messed up! We need more money!! You don't want us to fail and lay off two hundred thousand workers now do you?
Man it goes against every fiber in my body to have to watch this kinda crap being shoved down our throats.
Everyone here agrees that reform is needed. They just don't agree that the government should control it. The people that were elected to represent us are ignoring us.Wow. My two cents...anyone who calls anyone else a "socialist" for speaking their opinion that disagrees with their own loses credibility to those whose minds aren't made up yet. By the same token, it is just as cliche to say that only rich people are against health care reform. That only makes the rest of us who do support an overhaul of the health care industry look as short-sighted as the minority. The truth is we have so many lobbyists and special interest groups with their hands so deep in our elected representatives and officials' pockets that this nation can't make the changes that most Americans agree this country needs. To say that insurance companies only make a small profit margin is just not correct, no matter how you feel. Indeed, it is not the profit that retail chains claim, nor should it be. But the fact remains, we have millions of people who need healthcare that can't get it because they can't afford it. Millions of honest, legal, hard working good people that do not have the money to go get quality medical help because they don't have health insurance. Thats a problem folks. Suppose the medical bill in congress IS more bad for the nation than good---how do we agree on a better solution and then get it in the hands of those that can implement it???
Also pass the law where you can cross Stste lines to competing companies.
Anthem and Humana have got a throat choke hold on this state and need to be brought down to earth.
[QUOTE=parker;406658]Nope....can say that I could afford it either. But living here around Louisville I guess if push came to shove I'd go to University Hospital where they'd accept me based on my income...wouldn't they?
Sure is a sad day in America in my own opinion...actually it was a sad day when Obama got elected POTUS. I just wonder how many more of these sad day's we're gonna have to experience? C'mon 2012! Chant it now boys...Obama, one and done!! Only thing is 2012 can't get here soon enough to suit me.
Knowing that all the things I mentioned are not in the bill that passed sure makes me feel better.Thats my opinion. My last one at that. Now I am "free" to buy health care or face a fine. Seems nothing has changed when dealing with the gov. I will comply because I fear my government. A great man once said that when the government fears the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny. I opoligize to those my goverment is forcing to pay for my health care. I am totally capable of paying for my own as are most. I'm going fishing now, that sone thing the government doesn't have any control over. Wait a minute, never mind.
LOL....they ARE taking over more and more....aren't they.

dont know much about this bill and dont know if i want to know about it. i do know that i work my butt off and the insurance my employer provides me is wonderfull and the coverage is great. my wife had an emergency c-section 4 years ago and we paid 600 bucks for her to stay in the hospital for a week and the birth of my son. i have a lot of trouble with my knee and see a orthapedic doctor every couple months and all i end up paying is my co-payment.
so, why is my employer going to keep providing healthcare for me when our wonderful goverment will do it ???
Answer : THEY MIGHT NOT , i dont know about this but it sounds to me like all the people who are lazy and thriving off the goverment and are capable of working and fining a way to support themselves and their family need to get out and do so and we wouldnt need a healthcare bill that covers their lazy butts.

oh so nicely stated BASSKING......
Yeah, you can't argue that point, that's for sure. I think if structures like United Way, Churches, Salvation Army would unite, rather than the Government and Insurance Companies trying to unite, it would be better. But currently, it appears no better solution has been found than passing the Health Reform Bill. From a Gov'ts point of view I suppose, you can't make people work, and then you have ones who just CAN'T work. The only way to control that would be if the Government got involved on that issue as well. That would mean the same thing, fines if you do not comply. Which would also be an intrusion on someones rights. I mean, if you are without insurance, no matter what the reason, you can't just let a kid sit there with a broken leg and not go to the hospital because you won't or can't work.
It was my impression, from reading on health care years ago, that the real reason premiums were going up in the 90's was because of all the "un-insured" cases the Doctors were taking on. The Doctors were raising their prices for office visits and Hospital care, along with getting bigger salaries, so the insurance companies had to raise "their" rates and cost of plans to compensate....along with denying legit claims. Of course, you will always have insurance fraud on insurance claims as well.
Here is an interesting article on the Bill for all you guys that don't like this plan. It's got some very valid points.

Think about this; if this bill is so good why did they have so much trouble passing the bill. Think of all the time Obama spent making speeches how much bribery they had to give the democrats to vote yes. Think of all the arm twisting, Obama telling the democrats he would not help them get re elected if they voted no. Rob Emanuel naked in the shower threatning a fellow democrat. If this was a bill that the American people wanted everyone would have voted for the bill including the republicans. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!!!
Why not let the people vote on these things have a special election and get the real truth as who wants what.
Chris,
Thats a good link and it's scary! What did they do to us? Who is this helping? Looks like healthcare cost is going up if that article is right. I read most of the article and then most of the comparisons and it looks like they just put it to us. It doesn't even do what they claimed it would do!!!Thanks Nancy P.!
I heard something on the news last night and it sums it up...Liberals are looking at this as a Moral decision and playing on peoples feelings. Conservatives are looking at it as an Economic decision saying ok now who will pay for it?? Hits the nail on the head don't you think?
Also heard today on the radio that come Next year the premiums will go through the roof! Insurance companies will not operate with these new guidlines without getting their money back so they will come at us and more people will be burdened with enormous insurance premiums. The law is dictating the insurance companies to cover more people and pay more than ever. Guess where that money comes from?
Guess what scenario that sets up? Yep the gubment will save us all and take it over...all of it. Sounds like a grand plan to me.
I don't trust this administration for a minute.
