    Re: Health Care Vote

    Embrey's about got it right.

I don't know why everyone is so upset about the insurance companies. Yeah, they aren't interesting but I had a coworker go to a hospital for FOUR hours for outpatient surgery and the bill was over$15,000. The insurance companies had no part in this but we certainly got screwed. I don't know why doctors salaries aren't being debated. Seriously, why are doctors worth $1,000,000 per year? Do you think their Porsches and trophy wives could be part of the huge insurance rAte increases? Of course, the democrats won't talk about doctors because of the union ties. The republicans won't talk about it because the doctors are rich. That means you and me have nobody in our corner(except insurance companies).

So, we're stuck paying thousands of dollars per hour for medical care. Good thing we all know how to fish because that might be all we can afford to eat before long. I believe Obama is right that we need health care reform, I just don't trust anybody in Washington to do it right.

What a load of crap! You have no clue what you are talking about. I didn't realize I am wealthy, man that is great news. Perhaps now I can sell my 89 Ford F-150 and get a new truck. Then we can sell my wifes 93 Mercury and get her a new car. Wow, I am rolling in the dough and it took some socialist to point it out to me!

    Re: Health Care Vote

There's no doctors at my hospital that make close to 250,000 let alone a million bucks. I'd rather pay a doctor a million than Lebron James 50 million per year. Maybe ask Lebron to perform that emergency appendectomy when you need it.........

    Tort reform
    No coverage for illegals
Less reliance on technology - there's a reason an aspirin costs 12 bucks at the hospital - because you "have to have" hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of technology just so the nurse can hand it to you. We could go back to using those brain thingamabobs that came standard on the human model.

You can't have millions of dollars worth of care and expect to pay a nickle for it. Multiply that by the population of this country and you can see why it takes up such a large chunk of the pie.

Maybe 96 year old Mildred doesn't need that CT scan provided by the state of the art 128,000 slice techno 2 million CT scanner............

A whole lot of personal responsibility would go a long ways as well.

    Re: Health Care Vote

Wow. My two cents...anyone who calls anyone else a "socialist" for speaking their opinion that disagrees with their own loses credibility to those whose minds aren't made up yet. By the same token, it is just as cliche to say that only rich people are against health care reform. That only makes the rest of us who do support an overhaul of the health care industry look as short-sighted as the minority. The truth is we have so many lobbyists and special interest groups with their hands so deep in our elected representatives and officials' pockets that this nation can't make the changes that most Americans agree this country needs. To say that insurance companies only make a small profit margin is just not correct, no matter how you feel. Indeed, it is not the profit that retail chains claim, nor should it be. But the fact remains, we have millions of people who need healthcare that can't get it because they can't afford it. Millions of honest, legal, hard working good people that do not have the money to go get quality medical help because they don't have health insurance. Thats a problem folks. Suppose the medical bill in congress IS more bad for the nation than good---how do we agree on a better solution and then get it in the hands of those that can implement it???

    Re: Health Care Vote

I guess I will go against what I told Grumpy and make a political post. Maybe it wont count against me because I will not give my opinion on the bill.

c** Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance
to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

** Page 58 and 59: The government will have
real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

** Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by
the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).

** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this
section will not be treated as a tax.

** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same
regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.

** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration
care according to the patient's age.

** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a
prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates
advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years.

** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify
which doctors can write an end-of-life order.

These are just a few facts to consider. Maybe some of these have changed in secret behind closed doors.

The comments quoted above are from Judge David Kithil from Marble Falls, TX. These comments were made in regards to HB 3200, which is not the bill being voted on today. Today's vote is on HR 3590. And please don't take offense, but speaking only for myself, I would be more interested in your opinion than a copy/paste of someone else's comments.

My opinion? I wish I could say I've read and understand this bill, but I can't. My main feeling on it is that I can't support a "public option," because while I disagree with those who say it amounts to socialized medicine, I do think it puts us on a slippery slope toward it.

They are the ones that dont have an employee provided insurance plan they can afford! 800$ a month for a family of 4 is about right for minimum coverage, thats 5$ an hour. Now you tell me how many people working for minimum wage or even 10$ an hour can afford that! Can you support your family on 10$ an hour and pay 5 of it for insurance? You cant and I cant either unless we get our care at the emergency room. Sorry, I dont mean to ruffle your feathers but think about all the people that do work who cant afford health coverage.
