Show me exactly where I said your mother needed to die. Don't take my words out of context. Modern medicine is a double edged sword. It has extended the lives of many, but that comes with a price. If someone gets millions of dollars worth of coverage, they're going to have to pay a price for it.

Re: Health Care Bill is Passed

I gaurantee I have concern for the poor, most especially the poor who can't find any work right now because the economy is so screwed up. Or the eldery who are poor simply because their health is failing or they're living longer than they ever thought they would and now they're running low on funds, my wife's mom falls into this category, my own parents are falling into this category.

The "poor" I don't feel sorry for are the idiots who "say" they can't get a decent job, but in reality they've figured out the system, they've figured out how to get by in this world without reporting to a job 40+ hours per week, maybe they're getting government assistance or maybe they're shacking up with some broad with a couple of babies and she's drawing government money on her kids AND helping to support some loser at the same time, it is THESE types of people who will be getting the healthcare ride with the help of me, and you, and you.

I'm not here to argue about religeon, but at the same time I don't care for it being pushed on me either.

I find it unbelievable the sense of entitlement that people demonstrate. I wish I was capable of such feelings, then I wouldn't have the drive to work and provide for my family. I could just sit back, with my bag of cheetos (that tax money bought), watch the HCR vote, and then jump up (spilling my cheetos) and do a pump fist when they announced it had passed!

I know a lot of people who care a lot about the poor and do a lot to help them.....and could do a whole lot more if the government didn't take so much of their money and waste it on anything and everything.

Isn't it better to voluntarily give to the poor than to be forced to under threat of incarceration or fines?

I have health insurance through work, but it is cheaper for us to buy my wife's policy on our own since her work doesn't provide it.

I have heard that the cost of her policy will eventually be raised because of this. Don't know if it's true or not, but it seems typical that the people who are handling things on their own usually get punished to help assist those who are not.

I don't know if this bill will actually drive down costs. It's the cost that's the issue. More people living longer and reliant on the insurance for much longer periods of time. The bill will force everyone to carry insurance, which will help shoulder the burden some. Perhaps if individual rates raise people might be more conscienscous (sp?) of the health care decisions they make.

Insurance companies can no longer deny people for pre-existing medical conditions, but at the same time a whole new pool of uninsured people that will now require insurance by law will come calling. Is there anything in the bill that prevents insurance companies from simply raising their premiums?

Re: Health Care Bill is Passed

Last I heard of the Bill, the cap on Health Insurance Policies is going to be 6% of your salary. So again, if you make money, you are going to pay more for your policy than someone that makes less. Plus you are going to be hit up for more taxes to pay for the bill. It most definately stinks for the guy who makes good money. No doubt about that. Gas isn't getting any cheaper either.

One scenario here is, and I'm not saying this IS going to happen, but company's may be forced to back down the salaries of middle class workers and lower wage workers, you can only back down the lower end to minimum wage, but it could happen. Forcing lower income to jump on Medicaid and if that happens, that particular company will be faced with fines. The Bill forces companies to offer health insurance in that manner.

I also see quite a few insurance companies closing their doors. Some probably won't be able to compete with the bigger ones like Humana, Aetna, or Metlife. An Insurance war is definately coming, fighting for business with the best rates.

Looks pretty gloomy for us in the near future, but Obama did say after he got elected, it was going to get worse before it gets better. I knew then we were in trouble.

While I do agree with this particular bill being passed, that's just because I benefit from it. I would not like it if I was in the Middle Income Class. As far as Obama getting re-elected. FAT CHANCE. This is too bold of a move from a first termer in office. It would be hard for EVEN a second termer to pull off. I think there are A LOT of changes to come in the future and it will be in reform for years.

Re: Health Care Bill is Passed

WHAT I now know is that if this thing gets all the way through and into law is that my office will be OVERRAN with applications as this bill will expand medi cade an dthat is what I give out, it and KCHIP and food stamps. We will have more work but for the same pay, state employees have not had a raise, better than 1% for over 6 yrs now and now the gov just anounced that we are getting 0 nada nothing fo rthe next 3 yrs or so, no raise but they will be raising my health ins premiums and redoing our ins to a strict 80/20 co pay system. Yes I work for my ins and in order to keep it I have to give up things like a boat a new car etc, and if I get sick then I am out even more as our ins plans are not that good it is HUMANA, and since they rae the only choice KY give us we are stuck with it. This whole health care mess has torn this country apart and all this bickering etc has to stop and real discussions need to take place. I am so glad my elected officals do things without regard to how it affects the citizens.

Re: Health Care Bill is Passed

What is funny is that we already have health ins for most of the people, if you have children and have no income, you can get a med card thru medicad, also if you have children and cannot afford ins or are not offered it the kids are covered with KCHIP, also you can get Ky phys care card for a year and go see a vol Dr for free. We have health care for the poor and children what we lack is afforable health care for the working and middle class who are just over the income limits for KCHIP and medicade. I do not belive that this bill will help US out like they envisioned it years ago. We all aggree to disagree and all of us want the same things in life, but it is getting hard for us middle class to make it . I cannot afford a boat at this time due to breaking up from my fiance of 9 yrs, said I fished too much, still drive a 1994 f150 4x4, cannot afford a new one.But I am blessed to even have a job that offers some security, unless they ship us to Mexico, our call center is in India, go figure, it is ironic that Iwork in a system that is supposed to help people without jobs amd then have them call India to activate their food stamp card. Prowler sorry I see what you are getting at, my mother wanted to die as the treatments seem worse than the diease. Tom sorry for you Bro I feel for you. Peace to all.
