How did you do? What is the water temp?
Sorry I didnt post earlier but my computer is down. We actually ended up going to Guist Creek instead after hearing some discouraging reports from Taylorsville and some decent ones from Guist. Had a good day on crappie though and was satisfied with our decision. Anybody who went to T-ville let us know how it went, I'm hoping to get out there soon. BTW water was 49 at Guist around noon and jumped to 52 late afternoon and a little murky.
Looking to head back to Guist Creek tomorrow and try for some more crappie. May play hooky from work!!! Love the place. Fun lake to fish.
I suggest using minnows and white crappie jigs in 10-15 foot of water around submerged brushpiles. I just trolled along the bank until I graphed fish and structure and dropped my lines. Caught a number of fish (crappie, white bass, yellow bass, largemouth) but had 12 crappie that were good enough to clean, largest was around 12 to 13 inches and average was about 6 to 8 inches.
I also agree that Guist can be a lot of fun. Not too big yet enough room to find some decent spots. Had some tough days out there but this time of year is the best imo.
Taylorsville is horrible. Went there wed. and fished all day long. Caught 1 small fish. I fished everywhere, main lake creeks, even went up by the old quarry. the water color down there *****. Wont be going back for about a month or so.
