The improved cinch knot is very similar to the knot Peter described. That was the Trilene knot - which I use 90% of the time. But on Flouro the improved cinch is what I use. It doesn't pass through the hook eye a second time and you pass the tag end last loop created when you go back through the original loop - it is supposed to minimize the burn when cinching that flouro is notorious for.

There is a sight that has all of these on there demonstrated throught the tying process - check it out. animatedknots.com. It really helped me although there are some that are not on there.

By the way, there are no dumb or boring questions when it comes to fishing. The best way to learn is to ask questions. There is a lot of knowledge on this board, and even more than that, alot of people that are willing to share that with you. Ask away. There is also a search you can look through past threads.
