Im sure Dave can tell you the same;...but that report is accurate; a club member was in it, ... called me to tell me what he witnessed! I wasn't at all suprised...two years ago...last weekend in March...I was in a tournament going out of Ky. Dam Marina (over 70 boats)...and the winner that year had 27 pounds...all were smallies...all over at 5lbs!!! The largest smallie for that tournament was an giant 8 pounder!!!
Kentucky Lake...is one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the world in Feb/ March and April (my opinion)...it just gets real tough during the summer / early fall of course.
But you can catch a smallmouth...anytime...anywhere on both lakes. I had a partner catch a 5 pound smallie during a tournament in 3 feet of water...with 89 degree water temp, on Barkley Lake...so go figure??
