    spun prop?

i am having some difficulties with my 40hp tracker/force motor. i was shifting quickly between reverse and forward yesterday a few times and all of a sudden the thing starts running half power with full rpms.

whatever position the shifter is in, it is the appropriate rpm for position with half (or less) of the power.

i have read several descriptions of a spun prop and many describe intermittent problems or problems at certain rpms. mine does not seem this way.

what are your experiences with a spun prop?

with a spun prop, a lot of times if you simply shift into forward or reverse, the prop will spin as normal. but when you start throttling up you'll experience high rpm without any additional rotation of the prop. I'm not sure if there is anyone in town who can rehub a prop, but it's generally about $60-$80.
