    Re: Bluegrass

Loon is a lot more along than bluegrass. Water temps are higher and fish were actually chasing bait down. Bluegrass seems to be a couple days behind loon if not more. I did have one problem today. I was fishing a area for awhile. Pulled the keeper and a few smaller fish off one ledge. Two guys crappie fishing pulled up right where I was casting and dropped anchor. They were within 40' of me. They asked how I was doing. I told them pretty good until you dropped anchor right on top of me. One guy said oh well and castes out his bobber. I buzzed a trap by both of them. I sure was trying to see how far I could put those hooks into their faces. I told them to learn some manners as I pulled into the area they were casting and blew it out. I HATE morons! It was all I could do not to pull the plug on their jon boat and toss it in the pit.

Id say you beat me today Justin.. I did catch about 15 but i was out there aaaall day. Finally got a keeper, 4.6lbs. They are about ready to spawn in some areas of Loon believe it or not. Not gona say where but its going to happen this week in places with the warm weather keepin up, I caught a couple males with red tails and the bigger females i've caught this week were right there with them. Its good to know Bluegrass isnt that far along tho, Loon warmed up waaay too quickly. It was 49 like a week ago lol

I had some spots in the low 60's out there. And a lot of bloody tails too. Bluegrass is atleast a week behind. Where you saw me and those guys who parked on me they were stacked up and all bloody tails. I could see them coming out of the deep on to that shallow flat and back down again. Day or two more and it'll be crazy fun.

I found warm water on Otter Pit. 64 deg F at the surface in the middle of the lagoon on the South End. Graphed a lot of fish but only caught a few small fish.

    Wind was awful Friday.

Anyone fishing in the rain today?

Should fish Loon pretty soon before it gets too hot. It got up to upper seventies yesterday at Bluegrass F&W area.

I may just have to give Loon and the others another try. It's been quite a while since I fished BG area at all. May just stick with the pits east of Elberfeld.

I would love to get more info on those pits... Or any of the smaller ponds/pits within about an hour - hour and a half of Evansville... Those aren't considered part of Sugar Ridge are they?

The lack of manners and common courtesy is just killing me nowadays... I remember growing up, Dad and I would be on Kentucky Lake looking for a spot to fish and he would point out "Well, someone just went into Higgins Bay... guess we'll go somewhere else". (For those of you who don't know KY Lake, that would be like saying "Well, I see a truck just went into Bluegrass FWA... guess we'll look for another place"...

Here's a fun trick though: Next time someone pulls up too close, just move about 50 yards away - enough that they can still see. Drop a marker in a "nothing" spot... Now fish for about 5 minutes... Next, and this is the tricky part - with lots of slack in your line, step on the line, pull back on the rod to get a decent bow in it, and hoot and holler as though you have the biggest fish in the world on the line! Drop your rod, give the livewell a "thunk" and get back to "fishinig". Move quick or they will figure something is weird. Repeat the process a couple of times... minus the hollering if you like.. just enough to get them believing you have hit the mother lode. 1/2 hour of this usually works - 5 "fish" or so... then putter away...

They will be on your "spot" within 10 minutes.

You can laugh if you like. And point at them. I do.
