    Basspro shop at bluegrass

Just got off the phone with a buddy that was dealing with Newmaster,(he owns the back half of bluegrass), he said it was almost a done deal with Basspro shop building a place on the back side of bluegrass, He said that newmaster was offering his land for only $2000 an acre to Basspro shops just to get them here,. My buddy drills for oil and talking to him about drilling on some of his land and thats when newmaster showed him this huge lay out of all the plans that he had for bluegrass,

I heard a little about it.. Its kinda cool, I'll be going there all the time if everything works out.. but i can only imagaine how many more people its going to draw to the area. I'd rather it not happen.. but business is business, just hope we dont loose a quality fishery because of it

If this is the case they'd better start connecting all the lakes up there. That would generate so much traffic it would be worse than a thousand Phil Potters.

From what I've heard they were looking at putting one at the lynnville exit on 64. Warrick county is in the final stages of a huge grant from the state and Feds. They plan on making it into a entire outdoor area.

Maybe I can get a job there!

oh no! A thousand Phil Potters? Leaping Lizards ....

Does anyone else remember the lady that talked about building that huge aquarium out by Bluegrass? That was a joke.

New Master opened up a camp ground on Boonville New Harmony Road and that's closed now. I didn't mind the camp ground.

But lets face it guys. Bluegrass is not KY lake or anything close to that type of fishery. And it never will be anything near like Patoka.

Not sure how much to believe with all these rumors. I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

I know that Tom Newmaster owns a great deal of the land out there around Bluegrass F&W area.

I'd love to see a Bass Pro Shop come to Evansville though. Gander Mountain gets a lot of my money these days.

Since Greg left gander it's gone to crap. The new manager in the fishing department has no idea what he's doing. There inventory is terrible now too.

I totally agree with you there Justin , they really screwed up the way they display all the fishing stuff . The plastics are a grouped by type instead of brand which is a joke , Rapala's scattered in different aisles , and prices higher than most every store around . Anyway I hope they dont build anything by the lake , the roads and access just cant handle it . Its so crowded now that I wont fish there except during the week Im on nights & most people are working . The best spot for a BPS superstore would be at the morgan/I64 interchange , lot easier to get in and out of .

If you get close to Washington In. there is a good tackle shop there. Just a mile or so from 50 & 57 junction. It is caleed Quality Bait & Tackle inside the Jefferson Mall. Call if you need directions, 812 254 9350. Open 7 days a week except Easter and a couple other holidays.

I used to work part-time at a Gander. The fishing manager (or the store manager) have nothing to do with inventory. Big box stores get what they company decides they need. They also are given dreaded Plan-o-grams showing how the store is to be set up.

Sam, you are exactly right. I remember when ****'s opened. I talked to the store manager about a month before they opened and he led me to believe they would be the next thing to BPS. After they opened the fishing dept was about half up-east trout fishing stuff. I asked the clerks why they didn't stock the things that would sell in this area and was told they have absolutely no control over what they get for stock. They stock what is on the truck. Thats why most people know BPS and not so many know ****'s.......you can pretty well get what you need at BPS.

While you are correct about the shipments, they do have the ability to order extra stuff they see fit. When Greg ran the fishing department he did a lot of this. But then again he knew fishing and listened to what people wanted. Also the plan o grams can be modified with approval. Gregs new store in Texas is setup exactly how gander was 4 months ago. But it's better than nothing I guess. 1 more month til I'm in Texas fishing some good lakes with Greg. I'm really pumped about lake fork hawgs!!!

    Re: Basspro shop at bluegrass

I've been in Gander a few times and have descided not to go back unless I'm in desperate need of hooks or worms.
If I can't get 1000 yrds of my line or my Trophy Scum Frogs without the paddle feet, it's not worth me goin in. I couldn't even get the right mouting gear for my oars
****'s is not a store for fishermen, that place is a joke when it comes to our sport.
I'd rather wait for my order from BPS.
