We only brought home 10, I missed at least 4 that were big ones, so we should've had closer to 15. The females are loaded with eggs and these were all between 9-10.5 inches, big heavy females. Caught in 7-9 foot of water on the bottom. Did manage one crappie on a minnow and the wife missed a monster black crappie that broke off at tlhe boat.
With the warm weather, I can see this fish nesting very early this year. Saw some bluegill that looked to be building nest, couldn't get to them because of the cover.
were you fishin up in the CROWDED hoosier natl forest lakes? i caught a few crappie and decent redear this weekend while fishing for bassWe only brought home 10, I missed at least 4 that were big ones, so we should've had closer to 15. Speaking of crowded. I fished loon the other day cause bluegrass had 0 room to park. People were parking each other in. I love Phil potter. Great fish. I caught some bluegil from a lake back home I need to post a picture of. They were just odd looking and very big.
Let me clear that up by odd looking I mean a extremely bright redish orange belly. The stomach right below the jaw stuck out much more. And they were huge! I'm guessing they are some sort of hybrid? All I know is they ate a jig with a 3" trailer without a problem. Could that be right about some sort of hybrid?
No, we were going to go down to Indian but didn't have enough time. We went out to Elk Creek, it was crowded too. Between the boats and the Amish hovering all around the lake, it's gets some pressure.
don't go to indian or celina or saddle on the weekend. since tipsaw is donezo, there has been no parking places at celina or indian (covert washout sure didn't help)..and saddle has received more pressure than normal. and justin, is it a rock bass by chance?
Nah. They were bluegil. Next time I go I will get better pictures just cause they are neat looking and huge.
Me and my stepdad got on some big redear this weekend to. We were just fishin some strip pit in warrack county and the quality of fish we were catching was impressive. And it takes alot for me to stop bass fishing but those redear did the trick. I think we caught six over 10in. and alot of 8-9in. ones to. The most fun i've ever had panfishing.
Me and my brother just bought another small boat, I was kind of thinking Indian Saturday morning, sounds like I might want to think Tucker?
I would love to clean a mess of fish Saturday...
