There are fresh beds at bluegrass. Seems daily I am catching more and more with busted up tails.

The bass are not spawning yet...anywhere!!!!! Up there shallow.....yes....but not spawning. The crappies haven't even finished yet!
Busted up tails are not the best/only sign of spawning. Steve (from other post) what makes you think they have spawned? I'm sure they are closer to spawning in ponds and smaller lakes though.

I would say that they will be spawning soon in smaller ponds. Wed is a new moon. Good chance the females will be on the beds then. I caught a 2 lb female that I am assuming was near her bed for spawn.

I agree Clark...soon, but not yet. Water temps and timing are not right yet!

You keep thinking that. I'll keep pulling them off the beds at loon. Stevens can tell you the same thing. And the bluegrass area would qualify as a smaller lake with loon and otter being shallower than bluegrass. 190 acre lake after a good down pour is a smaller lake. If fish have bloody tails and are not moving off one bed for just about anything i would see that as they are spawning. Now I will agree that the bigger females have not all moved up yet. But the males sure are ready. With big fish being caught at a really good rate right now it's the start of the spawn. Just because you're not seeing reports or pictures of them being caught there does not mean it isn't happening. The guys who fish bluegrass a lot I promise you they are holding their own right now.

OK man....whatever. Has anyone else in Indiana seen a bedding bass??? I said they might be close and some males may be up there getting ready. I was in a big tourney yesterday and talked to probably 25 other guys from around the state and they all said the bass are NOT spawning yet....if you are seeing them up shallow that doesn't mean they have to be actually be spawning. Fish move shallow this time of year, but they almost never spawn until the first week of May....near that full moon. I don't know what you mean by holding their own, but catching fish in a 190 acre lake isn't like catching them in a big lake.....its too easy!!!!!
