Types of line

Need some suggestions, here's my reels and type of line I have on them. Baitcasters - Quantum Burner, Pro Qualifer LTD, ABU Black Max all have 12lb. Berkley Trilene Mono XL. Johnny Morris Sig. Series Limited Gold 15lb. Stren Microfuse Braided. Spinning Reels Quantum Tenacity and Bass Prp Viper VPR30 both have 10 lb. Berkley Tri Mono XL. Not happy with my choice of line. What do you guy's recommend. Thanks Tom

I use Berkley 100% flourocarbon on every reel I own except my topwater(sammy) and frog rod. On my sammy rod I use Berkley smooth casting(14lb) and on my frog rod I use 50lb Spiderwire braid. On my baitcasters I use 12 for crankin, 15 and 17 for other applications depending on cover and fishing technique. On my spinning reels I use 8lb test. With these combinations there has not been any situations I've come against that I haven't been ready. This is what has worked for me.

Well, you'll get a lot of different opinions on this. Braid vs Mono vs Fluorocarbon... So I might as well give you mine. I have been testing out some Mccoy copolymer and have been very happy so far. It's the best casting line I've used and I've used a lot. I use 8 on spinning, 12lb on baitcasters. They have braid and fluorocarbon too, but I've never tried them.

Thanks Bassmn & Todd, Fished all over in the 70's & 80's Bend, Rayburn, Ga. & Fla. etc and retired for awhile. Trying to get back into with youngest son. Just old and confused with all this new Tech. and equip. Back then it was a lot simpler!

i like p-line 100% fluorocarbon, halo and fluoroclear. 8 pound on spinning gear and 12 pound on bait casters. the only time i use mono is top water.

you can never go wrong with pline halo. in my opinion.

It depends on the kind of fishing you're doing with each reel and the kind of money that you're willing to spend to spool them. Flourocarbon can get expensive especially if you use it one all your reels. The one thing about it is that it lasts WAY longer than mono so you won't have to re-spool as often and you can use a backing on your reels so you don't waste a bunch of line everytime either. Personally I just use it on my bottom baits because of the added sensitivity but if I could afford it I would use it on everything other than top water. I use co-poly on my moving stuff and mono on my topwater baits, braid on frogs around grass(no grass gets co-poly). Personally i don't think you'll see much difference in the bigger name lines. Asking which one is best is like asking if ford is better than chevy and you'll get just as many that think one is junk and the other is great as the the other. I use Seaguar Invisx, p-line cx and power pro but that's just my personal preferences. Try a few out and see what you like the best.

I prefer the seagars invix. I used to use the p-line, but broke off way to many good fish on it, since the switch hasnt happend as much.

If I didnt use Berkley 100% flourocarbon I would use Vicious flourocarbon. If you dont want to sink $20 in 200 yards of line go with Vicious. At Tackle Warehouse you buy 800 yard spools for around $22. I think that is the price. It is just as tough as Berkley but has a little more memory.

I like invis -x by seaguar and had no problems last year with abras-x in the bushes, 100% berkley floro is OK but they're all expensive. Went back to p-line this year using floroclear in the mint green. I hope the 20lb test will hold up in the bush on barkley this year. Even my dad likes it so far and he hates florocarbon. But this line is coploy coded with floro so it a lot more managable. AND A LOT CHEAPER! One has to have a fishin budget and a seperate line budget.
