    fished the ohio saturday

found water temps up to 56. water was stained perfectly to my spring liking. we caught 3 keepers and one that was close 11 inches. we had 2 solid keepers and the other keeper was a squeaker. we fished about 3 hours and the fish came by cranking rocks. not one fish off the wood.

My buddy and I fished a little of the Markland Pool on Saturday and blanked. Fished for about four hours...my buddy had a nice one on a lipless crank but the fish got off. 90% of our fishing was fishing wood...so go figure. Did you fish the main river...feeder creeks...embayments? Might get out tomorrow if the wind is down.

Fished the markalnd pool for 6 hours yesterday, did not catch one bass. Fished a good creek that usually produces this time of year and had one take my brush hog but missed it. The creek was full of gar sunning there selves. would have been great for bowfishing. I did not try any main river spots though. Water temps were around 67.

I'm pretty sure I know where you're talking about. Was in there Sunday, and it was pretty dang shallow then when the water was down a bit. Saw the same thing. Several schools of baitfish, but not bass, and plenty of gar and drum.

As for last night, fished some other areas, found baitfish, and caught some little guys feeding on those baitfish, but nothing over 8" doing that. Bigger bass must still be staging a little deeper is all I can figure.
