I have had many Eagles (320,s and 480's), due to the cost. I can only get a couple of years out of them. When they work they work good. If I had to do over I would buy a Lowrance or Hummingbird.

I have an old school Hummingbird fishfinder that has the resolution of Pong and I'm wanting to upgrade. I want to have the ability to plot points and possibly get maps on it but without spending a fortune. What would you guys suggest? Eagle, Garmin, Hummingbird, or something else? Thanks for the input.

My advice to you is to AVOID Lowrance. I bought a new Depthfinder/GPS last May. It worked for 3 weeks. I sent it back to Lowrance in June, got it back in Jan. I've used it 4 times so far this year, and it's already acting the same as before. It was never fixed. Never again will I buy Lowrance!I have an old school Hummingbird fishfinder that has the resolution of Pong and I'm wanting to upgrade. go humminbird. i have had nightmares dealing with lowrance customer service. humminbird service is top notch. better product in my opinion and easier to use. you can get a sonar/chartplotter from them for under 500 if you shop around i have two 767's on my ranger and they are very good units.
BBG Marine & ask for Brian (888-570-0916). He's very good to deal with & an electronics sponsor on Bass Boat Central.( bbc.com )The 581i humminbird will suit you well. You can also get a Navionics premium east card.
"resolution of Pong " LMAO.....I have an old school Hummingbird fishfinder that has the resolution of Pong and I'm wanting to upgrade. Go with the hummngbird
Just got a hummingbird 798c si combo and absolutely love it!
Lol, really? Like Pong? Haha. But seriously, all the guys above are correct, Humminbird is really your best choice. And define "fortune?". If you're talkin around $500-700, you can have a pretty good combo. Bass Pro has a lot of various fishfinders on display, and just so happens I work in the Marine dept. If you are interested in the different options, I'll be there Sunday. Ask for Matt. I'll be glad to answer any questions, even if you don't plan to buy one then. We don't get paid commission, just there to help.I have an old school Hummingbird fishfinder that has the resolution of Pong and I'm wanting to upgrade. Aww I use to work at Bass Pro with Matt, good guy but not a good fisherman....lol...jk. All the guys in the Marine department are stinkin Humminbird fans. While I was there I prodealed one humminbird unit (787 C2i) and am ok with it. I agree that the GPS is top notch but I do not like the depth finder as much as lowrance. Either way if you have a crappy unit now, these new units will be much better. I would take the best of both worlds, go to Bass pro and play around with the units, and then get online and get the cheaper pricingBoth come with the same warranty. 1 Year.
There is a place called ebuyersworld, I bought a trolling motor on there for 5 bucks cheaper than bass pro, and FREE shipping. They have Depth sounders too.
If you're looking to buy new I'd go with Humminbird....If you're looking to buy used I might go with a lowrance 332,480,520.....just seems like those slightly older lowrances were made better than the ones they make today
Lowrance and Eagle are the same company..Kinda like GMC and Chvrolet.
