Ask the Creek guys why they are so tight lipped and do things via PM's. Lakes are a much larger scale but can still be an issue. The internet is a great tool and we all love it. But some guys need to do some of their own leg work like the rest of us had to do.Pay some due's so to speak. I use to give detailed reports after all my trips when I first started on this site, and got smoked so many times I quit, I could tell ya some good ones. There are some other fellas on this site that would agree with me and tell you some horror stories as well.

Just giving another perspective Richy that's all, no anger here just saying.

    Easy killer.....

I was merly complementing waterdog101 for going above and beyond the usual reports on here (i.e. caught 50 keepers at a lake). It is nice to see someone explain an effective method for catching a certain species. I think that this is what this site used to be all about, I just feel like people have become way to serious about a sport that is supposed to be fun for all. Just remember.......you still have to be able to fish for any of it to matter. I can tell anyone right where I caught a 100 fish the other day and with what I caught them on, but they still have to catch them. It's fish stink, some have it, some don't.

I also would like to clue everyone in on the most effective manner for catching trout.......FLY FISHING!!! The secret is out!

It is always good to get an updated report, but one always runs the risk of disclosing their secret spot. I, too, have felt mhall's pain with everybody and his brother(with their 2nd cousin tagging along) on "MY" spot, but it happens. But I think more important is what type of bank and what time the fish are on those banks. Also of note, those fish can be on 2 different patterns, so give all methods a whirl.

    Re: Striper Night Bite?

Bite was slow for me lastnight. Caught 4 non keepers. Plenty of shad & a few fish busting in them , but not a lot. I'd think it will get better pretty soon.

Thanks for the info. I new it should be starting soon but it is nice to know that it has and fish have been caught. Happens every year at about 60 degree water temp (if I remember correctly). The usual spots might have folks on all the points or walls and weekends will likely be relatively crowded. It's that time of year.

I was in Indian last weekend from dark to midnight and did not hear one striper hitting the surface nor did I see one other boat but I did easily catch Alewives under a light including about (4) 7 inchers. I was in about 80-90 feet of water. Not sure if that matters this time of year but I think it will about late June. Thought I had the "secret weapon" for the next day of fishing but caught no stripers. Got some other bad reports for last Sunday (4-11) too...so maybe I had the Cruise missile of cumberland but no active targets around. It was brutal too. After netting bait , had to clean a fish (from Sat evening) at 11:30 at Grider hill and them pull the boat out of the water. Got to bed at 2 am. and back up at 5:30 am. Such is stripper night fishing. Makes me want to consider just using shinners so some sleep could be had for the next days fishing.

Thanks to all that have provided fishin info to the folks on the site.

    Happy Fishing

Ah yes Peter, striper fishing can be hard work for a hobby that is supposed to be fun, be it day or nighttime fishing. Funny you mention a "secret" weapon. When pulling out of Bailey's(Barren) the other night, 3 guys on the bank were catching alewives and using them as bait. They caught 3 hybrids just in the time we loaded the boat. Almost unbelievable.

    Re: Striper Night Bite?

I fished Thursday we caught 2 and had 3 others hooked but couldn’t get them to the boat. Saturday was a different story the lake was very quiet not much shad up after the cold front came through only think we caught was about a 14" largemouth. They just aren’t ready yet shouldn’t be long though.

    Re: Striper Night Bite?

Went Thursday night mid lake. Caught my smallest striper ever. Couldn't have been over 8"!! Not the record that I was looking for. We ended up with 5 stripes with only one keeper at 26". Very light shad flipping but there were a few getting hit on top between about 1030 and midnight. We caught an additional 3 SM that were all small. It was a beautiful night to be on the lake for the first trip of the year. I wish someone would have put a hurtin on the beavers back during trapping season though as it's no fun trying to be stealthy with one slapping the water around you. Debris for the most part was non existant other than a single large log floating stright up like timber dead in the middle of the lake. It won't be long now.
