Pickett's dam used to be my favorite place to fish just outside of Louisville around the turn of the millenium, but it has gone downhill fast. Alot of new neighborhoods being built out there introduced a bunch of new fishermen to the area and I believe that it is highly overfished. There was about a 3 year stretch from 2003-2006 that I couldn't go there and not find at least 2 other fishermen. This was through the week too, not just weekends. Anyway, good luck to you. It used to be a great place to catch some smallies but I haven't had any luck there for quite some time.
i hate to hear that, over the years i used to love to fish there, i have caught a 12lb catfish,4 lb largemouth,3 pd smallmouth. probably had the state record rockbass/warmouth in my hand and let it go. also crappie and also caught a 8lb carp in there. havent been much over the last 5 yrs. i bet if you are williing to wade quite a way there are still some nice fish there to be caught in the hard to reach places. good luck,jc

For someone who hates to hear about a declining fishery you just put directions to it on the Internet. That should help it rebound.
Good rule of thumb- don't talk about fragile creek systems online on open forums. It's what pms are for.
thx for the info im looking for a descent stream to fish besides Elkhorn with in 60 miles that i can put a kayak in just or just wade 3-5 feet water dont post it pm me
