I would get a test light and see if you have voltage is at your plug first and then trace it back through the trolling motor foot control, if you have one. In my experience the plugs on these trolling motors dont last for too long before the connection become intermittent and you have to replace them.

Especially if it's the Ranger/Minn Kota plug with the 4 metal pencil eraser prongs.

    Re: trolling motor troubles

I had the same thing happen in my boat. Check and see if you have a small box on the the battery cable at the battery. There is a small black tab sticking out of that box. It is some type of reset button. Was trolling across a cove and the motor just quit. Check fuse and connections, etc. Reset that button and it fixed it. Seems to happen when you have the motor on high speed. Hope this helps.

Mine done the same thing. Push in the reset button on the small boxes on your wires from the battery. One of mine popped out. I forgot what they are called but they should be on your battery wires.

    Re: trolling motor troubles

You have to trace it back from the batteries. After the batteries, test the TM plug and then see if you have power at the foot pedal switch and then next in the top of the motor. I had this happen a few years back on an older OMC trolling motor and I had good batteries, power at the plug, the foot pedal switch, and in the top of the motor. Ended up taking the motor apart on the lower end and one of the contact wires had broken. Soldered the wire and put it back together and it is still going strong...
