    Hello everyone

Hello everyone, I am new to Kentucky and the fishing itch is killing me. I miss the white bass actions I had in Illinois. I heard the salt river above Taylorsville lake would have white bass run around this time of the year. Has anyone been there recently?
I am from Lexington. I'd be happy if anyone around want to explore it (or any other water) together this weekend. Had a difficult time finding fishing buddies.

Thank you first2fish. I've never fished a creek before. Do I need to wade it? Can you share some exp and a good starting location?

Wading it can be a problem. You might need to get individual land owners permission to do so. You can float anywhere you want, butt, once your feet touch bottom, you are probably on private property and without permission, you are trespassing.

No rain...no fish. A buddy of mine fished Van Buren all the way to the quarry this morning and took a solid skunking. Could'nt even find staging fish. Salt is choked in moss, and very low. Welcome to the board Igloo.

Welcome to the board. I never fished the salt river but I have elkhorn. U can rent a canoe and float if you wanted. Don't think there are any white bass in there....but I don't know for sure.

    Re: Hello everyone

Fished about a mile of the Salt yesterday, again, very low and choked with moss. Caught a smallmouth around 13", that was it. The crazy thing was the number of carp. There is a hole we like to fish that we call the "Kiddie Pool", because even a child can pull fish out of it. It's small, but about five ft deep. I swear I've never seen anything like it! I guessed it at about 70 carp, all crammed in this hole in a big school, rolling, jumping, etc.. I knew I was'nt going to catch fish, but it was nice to see the river. DJD is right on. Don't neglect the Elkhorn. Sometimes you will come into a stray white or two where the creek meets the Ky. River at the campground off 127 north. You need a canoe to do it proper, it costs 3$ to ramp. Good luck Igloo.
