    KY river 04/19

Went out on the river testerday. Water was 63 deg, pool was around 7.5 ft. (very low for this time of year). Caught 5 undersize smallmouths just off rocky deep channel. Went up Benson creek and fished a fallen tree pulled out one good keeper crappie and 4 that were not enough to feed the cats. Another boat was fishing the channel for cats and they said they had not had any luck. Threw everything back except for the one crappie, gave that one to a couple that was just heading out from the ramp to night fish. Figured that might be the one fish that gives them a mess of crappie instead of a few. I would like to know how they did.

Bye the way, the crappie were deep. Water was 15 ft. they were just about a foot off bottom. Let the jig sink to the bottom, raised it up about a foot, let it sink again and the bite came on the second or third lift.
