Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland

All posts accusing someone of cheating will be deleted unless you post your name, address, phone number at the bottom of the post, which will be verified. Be aware that you can be sued for making public accusations without proof. I certainly do not condone cheating in any form..but this site will not tolerate someone's reputation being dragged thru the mud until they have been charged and convicted of a crime.

What does my name, address, and phone number have to do with this guy cheating? You must be a liberal. I would hate to be afraid to hurt someones feelings by not being politically correct. Someone needed to beat his butt. No one in the crowd that would have stoned him to death would have been sued for liable, and you are afraid this site will be held responsible. Makes me ashamed to be affiliated with this site. What a joke!!!

    THEN LEAVE.

Those have been the rules forever.............

If you're going to drag someone, ANYONE through the mud........cheater or NOT, you should be required to IDENTIFY who you are....PERIOD.

Sitting behind a keyboard and slamming or slandering someone is just that SLANDER. You legitimize your post by putting your Name and Contact info at the bottom of the post.

If I said so and so Marina on Whatever Lake was a piece of garbage because they did "bla, bla, bla" to my boat.........and left it at that.........I'm leaving myself and this site open to potential liability issues.

Dave's post above has nothing to do with politics.........Rather, it is a legal issue.

Personally, With regards to the cheating.........It is Disgusting, and those involved should serve jail time.

If you are going to drop blame on a man for accusations that you yourself can or can't verify then you should be held responsible for YOUR actions, and I think if you stone a man to death? my friend.... someone surely would be held responsible. The "team" as I understand it has done a very despicable act that any tx fisher finds irreprehensible and should be deemed done in the tournament fishing industry.... period,

and, Dave is very literal and plain speaking - he said if you are going to name and accuse someone "post your info" as so if there are grounds for slander you are man enough to stand up for what you are saying, not that the site was being held responsible YOU YOURSELF. It's the rules and always have been, as well as speaking ill of this site and or it's moderators.

I know you are emotionally charged up. I dislike cheating much like you and everyone else on this thread. Dave is stating the rules and we need to respect the rules established by the founders. It has nothing to do with being a liberal...I think you owe Dave an apology.

Otherwise I think that the tournament director was too nice. I would have let him weigh those fish and let him get hauled off the stage by the cops. I believe if people better understand the harsh consequences, you will minimize the cheating. However, I do not have any science to back up that statement, so who knows....

Read the Discussion Board Rules before you post here again....or you won't be posting anymore here. My thoughts on this issue have nothing to do with my reminder that the rules of this site state you must put up your contact information before making such accusations. This applies to you, me and anyone else.

If you do not like the way the site is being administrated, then I would advise you to send your complaints to [email protected] as stated in the Discussion Board Rules rather than posting your complaints on the boards, which by the way is another violation of the rules as is your slamming of me and the site.

End of Conversation about this on the boards.

So, i will take that as a threat that if I dont agree with the rules that I will be banned. It is sad that I can be threatened on the post, but the real guy that commited a CRIME here is not being prostected. This was not a personal attack to Mr. Stewart, and if perceived as such, I do apologize. It is just so sad that even a sportsman's discussion board is so closely regulated and afraid of lawsuits that we cannot talk about this guy by name. I have fished many local tournaments here is East KY, and am afraid that this pond scum could leak his way over here and try to scam us as well. Had this happened at one of our local ramps, this guy would be praying that a stoning would be the worst thing that happend to him. Everyone would know his name because it would be on the front page of the local paper. But enough about him. This guy was wrong, should have been prosecuted, and instead i am the bad guy for freely posting what I believe. Rules are rules, and this guy violated the most important rule to sportsman/fisherman, and walked away smelling like a rose. Is there no justice, or are they afraid of following the rules, also? And again, Mr. Stewart, if you and some others feel as if I attacked you personaly, Im sorry.

Obviously you did not read the rules....again you have broken the discussion board rules by posting your complaint about the way this site is administated....read the rules, then send your complaints to [email protected] as is stated in the rules. You do not have to agree with the rules here..but you will abide by them. Your new here so I am being lenient but my patience is running thin. Like you said...rules are rules.

I don't think Dave threatened you in any fashion. You obviously have not read the rules of this board or you would not be making such accusations. Dave Stewart is one of the fairest people you will ever meet and he has helped practically everyone who posts on this board at one time or the other and we are all glad he is our friend. If you can't read the rules or you can't understand them maybe you need to give up posting of message boards such as this.

Just because you use a "made up name" to post on boards such as this you cannot make claims against other people and expect to stay "hidden". Anyone who posts on these boards are liable to slander and can have a civil action brought against them even if the facts being outlined have some truth to them. A court order is all it takes to find out who you are and where you are for the sheriff to serve your papers. Plus Fishin.com can also be brought into a civil case for allowing such activity, THIS IS WHY WE HAVE MODERATORS.

As for the story that got this started I would be questioning the hosts of the tournament as to why they let these guys off if they had an ironclad case against them? If they could prove these guys cheated and didn't have them prosecuted then I for one would never again fish a tournament they sponsored. Cheats cannot be allowed to walk if there is evidence enough to warrant a criminal charge.

I used to fish about every tournament I could get to but situatiions such as this dulled my competetive spirit. I have fished this tournament in years past and back then it was wide open for such activities. They finally threatened the fishermen with a lie detector test but I don't think this would have much of an influence to someone hardcore enough to actually carry out an act such as cheating. Bottom line is if there is EVIDENCE and not claims of cheating then the tournament organizers should have called in law enforcement to open a case against these individuals and bring criminal charges. They didn't and if I has fished this tournament I would have been very unhappy no only with the guys accused of cheating but the tournament organizers also. Who knows if they were the only one's who fished this tournament who had fish in a basket???????????? Maybe the others either didn't get caught or they turned in these guys???? Makes you think anyway.

I agree TimT. Some folks don't read into the details, even if they do read the post. That's why we keep seeing the same redundant messages......
